FantasySavvy 2018: RB Tiers

Fournette, Kamara and Saquon in the First Tier? Why not. Saquon and Fournette are two of the best RB prospects to come out in the last decade or so. There upside reaches to the top of the Beanstalk. Kamara has 4 games without Ingram and can catch the ball as good as he runs it.

Derrick Henry is going to show he’s one of the leagues best. If it wasn’t for Dion Lewis taking carries, he could have a monster season. He can handle 300 + carries. He is Orc.  6’3, 247 with 4.5 speed? Check this run out against Jacksonville last year. 42 sec mark .   Howard is probably the least talented of Tier B, but he plays behind a solid offensive line and is strong tough runner who grinds out yards.

Ingram and McCoy are concerning, the reward may not outweigh the risk. The Bills Oline has not looked good and Ingram misses the first 4 games with possibly playing a secondary role behind Kamara when he returns, also maybe the PED’s were giving him an extra pep? Michel and Burkhead both hit this Tier because they play for the Pats and will produce when given the opportunity. Michel was taken in the 1st round by the Pats for a reason, they want to use him very often! Burkhead was also extremely productive in the games he played last year.

I think Carson secures the role as starting RB for the Hawks, Penny has gained nearly 20 pounds since the combine and won’t be running through gaping holes like he did in college. I believe Carson is good value at his ADP. I am not as high as most on Mckinnon, but he should catch a ton of balls. Just don’t be surprised if he loses touches at some point or worse, takes a secondary role. He is one of the fantasy darlings that experts seem to back year after year after year, without producing much dividends. Ajayi is currently banged up, be weary.

Aaron Jones is suspended the first two games, but I think he’s the best pure runner on the Pack and will likely secure the main role when he returns. Cohen has so much upside, he could easily jump up a few tiers. Clement is another who is trending up with the Ajayi injury, another player with upside. Lamar Miller is boring but he has nobody behind him and is playing with Deshaun Watson, he will put up his usual 10+ fantasy points per game. When Foreman does come back that could change quickly though. Bilal Powell is the best running back on the Jets IMO, I would take him first over Crowell. He’s a decent selection, it’s just the Jets don’t use him enough.

Jordan Wilkins could be the Week 1 starter for the Colts and he has the opportunity to maintain that job. He’s crafty and runs like Matt Forte, although not as talented. All LeGarrette Blount does is score TD’s (30+ last 3 seasons) and he’s likely to be the Lions GL back all year, I’m not buying Kerryon Johnson. I really like Austin Ekeler, he is another Danny Wooodhead type. He really could produce nicely for your fantasy teams this year, give him a shot.

Ronald Jones college tape really stands out to me, he reminds me a bit of Jamal Charles. However, this is the NFL and it looks like he needs to learn a bit after a bad preseason run. Still, Peyton Barber? I think Jones can take this job at some point, even though it looks bleak right now. You can get him for peanuts.

James Connor and John Kelly are two handcuffs you need to add if you own Bell or Gurley. These two are talented runners who can produce at a high level if given the chance. Both of them may even take away some from Gurley and Bell this year. Chase Edmonds is another to take if you own David Johnson.
