Al Squatrito, was a key writer for Fantasy Savvy last year. He branched out and now has his own site at Presnapread.net with tons of great information. So check this article out that he did and be sure to check his site during the year. Al will also be contributing here a bit still as well as joining our radio show from time to time. Good Luck this weekend and expect a Start Em Sit em from Fantasy Savvy tomorrow night!
Below is list of players (in order) you should add to your fantasy football roster that could help your team recover from its wounds. Select your waiver pickups wisely.
Week 1 Recovery Adds
WR
Davone Bess – always ppr worthy with reliable hands, Dolphins play Texans and may have to continue throwing all game. Davone seriously shouldn’t be on waivers in any leagues. Chad Henne another 400 yards passing?
Nate Washington – Believe it or not, the Ravens pass defense isn’t the greatest, it’s also a little banged up. Matt Hasselbeck doesn’t throw the best deep ball. I assume the Titans get waxed in this one and have to pass all day. If the Ravens lose, they aren’t a Super Bowl contending team.
Earl Bennett – This guy is a creeper. I expect week 1 to be the worst contribution of his all season long, he bounces back this week against the Saints. Two pass first teams playing against one another is a good sign for any wide receiver for the Bears and Saints regardless. Also……..Roy Williams is questionable going into this one. Start Bennett with confidence this week. If I’m wrong, I’ll quit!
Devery Henderson – Marques Colston is out of the Saints lineup for about 4 weeks due to injury, I hope this isn’t the first time your reading this news.
Mohamed Massaquoi – He’s really the number one guy for the Browns right now, behind their two tight ends.
Nate Burleson – The Lions are home and……….the Lions are a pass first team. Nate is clutch and still on top of his game. Eric Berry is out for the Chiefs.
Eric Decker – I have to see it to believe it a bit more but Brandon Lloyd is looking doubtful for this one. Also so is Knowshon Moreno. Maybe we see Lance Ball and Willis McGahee run the ball 30 times, that’s actually possible. Decker and Eddie Royal get a boost.
Jacoby Jones – I hate this guy’s hands but it could be worse, he could be on a team like the Chiefs and never get looks. Kevin Walter is out and Jones has great speed. The Dolphins cb’s are one of the best in the despite their outing last Monday night vs. the Pats maybe Jacoby can provide a spark for the Texans offense. Am I confident about Jacoby………….not really.
David Nelson – Darn it Steve Johnson, please stay healthy all season. He’s questionable this week with a LINGERING groin injury, he’s getting me nervous! This guy looks pretty decent.
RB’s
Cadillac Williams – You should have drafted him Steven Jackson fans!!! Ahh, what are you gonna do.
Ben Tate – This guy is going to be awesome for the Texans going forward. Derrick Ward will eventually get cut.
Danny Woodhead – shouldn’t be on the waivers nor should James Starks………somehow there are some leagues out there where these guys are on waivers.
Lance Ball – With Knowshon Moreno questionable, Lance can maybe do something? You shouldn’t be this desperate.
Isaac Redman – He will get goal line carries this season, he’s SOLID!
TE
Jermaine Gresham – He’s definitely the real deal and could be this year’s Peyton Hillis. Impossible! Anyway no one in any of my leagues (6!) drafted him. Pick him uP!
Scott Chandler – He’s a super solid red zone threat at 6 foot 7. He had two td’s in week 1. Dang,
Aaron Hernandez – Shame on you if he wasn’t drafted in your league. Brady threw 16 td’s to his tight ends last year.
Fred Davis – Shanahan likes safe and consistent play, so do fantasy owners. Chris Whoey?
Ed Dickson/Evan Moore – Ed Dickson is on the better offense so………….you be the J.
QB
Ryan Fitzpatrick – Yeah 4 td’s last week, keep it going Ry! ( I have him)
Chad Henne – He broke his own passing yard record last week.
DEFENSIVE SLEEPERS
Cowboys – Rob Ryan has these guys playing well, his father is Buddy Ryan, his brother is Rex Ryan.
Vikings – The Vikings put up a great fight away in San Diego last week, the Vikings defense is always solid at home.
Saints – Saints at home after a close opener against former Super Bowl champs. Saints may be marching all day.
Texans – Worse case scenario, why not. Forget the points they put up last week…………………. 30! Wait, what? FACT: The Colts stink with out Peyton Manning. FACT: Wade Philips will help Texans D strive this season.
