Player Updates 10/2

Texans WR Andre Johnson expects to play Sunday in Oakland and is doing everything in his power to do just that. It looks like its safe to keep him in lineups.

Giants and DL Mathias Kiwanuka(neck) are preparing for the worst. Kiwanuka is expected to miss 2-3 months after a CAT scan revealed he has a bulging disk in his neck. He is going to get a second opinion but right now it appears you can dump him in IDP leagues. SOURCE: Chris Mortensen on Twitter

RB Steven Jackson practiced friday, but in “very limited” fashion. He only took handoffs and didn’t look close to going full speed. If you have better options use them and keep SJax on benches this week. Kenneth Darby will start and has a good matchup against Seattle if Jackson sits. SOURCE: St Louis Post-Dispatch

Saints RB Pierre Thomas returned to practice Friday in limited fashion. Coach Sean Payton says Thomas is progressing quickly and expects him to play Sunday, but is still being called a game-time decision. Start time for this game is 1pm so check back in around noon tomorrow for the update. Ladell Betts would start if Thomas can’t go. SOURCE: Jeff Duncan on Twitter

RB Ray Rice(knee) practiced Friday on a limited basis. The Ravens and their coach staff along with Rice fully expect him to play against Pittsburgh. Rice doesn’t have a great matchup, but has been the most effective runner against them going back to last season.

Texans TE Owen Daniels (hamstring) said Friday that he’s feeling much better and is hoping to play but is going to be a game time decision. The game starts at 4:15 so if you have another decent option going earlier you’ll probably want to go them. SOURCE: www.houstontexans.com

Lions rookie RB Jahvid Best (turf toe) practiced Friday and his workout was extensive according the the Lions. Keep Best in your lineups this week against the Packers.

Clinton Portis(wrist) returned to a full practice Friday and is expected to start Sunday in Philadelphia. Coach Shanahan has been hinting that RB Ryan Torain will take a lot of the early down carries, so Portis isn’t a very good start this week or as any more than a flex play. SOURCE: Washington Post

Beanie Wells(knee) practiced in full Friday and is good to go Sunday in San Diego. He has a pretty good matchup this week so get him into your lineup.

Ryan Mathews(ankle) practiced in full all week and is going to start. He has a great matchup this week against the Cardinals.

Oakland Raider WR Louis Murphy(clavicle) and Darrius Heyward-Bey(groin) are both listed as questionable for Sunday and were limited in practice Friday. Murphy hasn’t looked 100% at practice and Heyward-Bey’s injury was apparently suffered Friday. They play at 4pm so if you have better options or can’t wait for 4pm then keep these guys on the bench even though they do have great matchups if they can go. SOURCE: Vittorio Tafur on Twitter

Browns WR Josh Cribbs is expected to get some snaps at QB if Seneca Wallace were to continue to start. Cribbs value is rising slowly as he is becoming more involved on the offense. He’s worth a roster spot at this point in 12 team and deeper leagues. SOURCE: Canton Repository

As expected, RB Knowshon Moreno(hamstring) has been ruled out for week 4. His status for next week is not yet known but Laurence Maroney will get the start and isn’t recommended this week. SOURCE: Lindsay Jones on Twitter

Bengals WR Terrell Owens(back) was held out of Friday’s practice but it appears it was just precautionary. The Bengals fully expect him to start Sunday in Cleveland. He’s a good WR3 play this week. SOURCE: Cincinnati Enquirer

Browns RB Peyton Hillis will continue to be the teams lead back according to the coach and off. coordinator. Jerome Harrison will continue to be the backup as long as Hillis is healthy and running well. SOURCE: Mary Kay Cabot on Twitter

The Colts WR Pierre Garcon(hamstring) missed practice again on Friday and is expected to miss Sunday’s game in Jacksonville. Blair White will play once again. RB’s Donald Brown(hamstring) and Joseph Addai(knee) are both listed as questionable. Brown, however is also not likely to play this week. Addai didn’t practice Friday but is expected to play and could have a big day with Mike Hart backing him up. Garcon and Brown owners, use other options, Addai take a wait and see approach as he has a great matchup. SOURCE: colts.com
