FantasySavvy 2018: Week 5 Player Rankings

QB’s

Big Ben vs Matty Ice should be an insane shootout, Atlanta’s defense is a mess and Pitt can’t guard anybody either. Ridley is making corners look silly. If you are a High School or College player watch how he runs his routes, masterful. I expect Goff to keep his pace up, the coaching and weapons are so perfect and Goff looks like Drew Bledsoe on Cheat Codes right now. Think Russ has his best game of the year, I was thinking about using Bortles over him, but have decided against it. Wentz is only going to improve each week, expect a solid performance in Week five. Dalton looks poised for a nice game. Eli isn’t playing poorly, he’s missed a few throws here and there, but still is throwing the ball with zip and accuracy, he’s just checking down a bit too much, he’s going to need to start getting a little more aggressive very soon. Beckham is frustrated and I saw on the tape why, Eli had him on a few corner routes, but instead he checked down.  Josh Allen made some bad throws last week, but his blocking right now is an absolute disaster. Not sure any QB could succeed with that line and cast of Weapons at WR. Allen looks like Jay Cutler out there. Still think he’s going to be a good QB in this league. It will take time.

RB’s

Melvin Gordon averaging a career best 5.1 YPC trhu 4 games, after finishing under 4 YPC each season he’s been in the NFL. He looks stronger this year, he could maintain this. Rosen is going to help David Johnson, but the coaching staff needs to wake up and give him a much bigger share of touches. I expect Ingram to come back with a punch, Aaron Jones will separate himself this week. Wondering if Bengals rushing back Mixon too early, will see how he looks. Think Freeman will look good, but not a great matchup. Royce Freeman and Kerryon Johnson both deserve more carries, will see if they get that this week. Derrick Henry breakout game? This is the perfect spot. Mike Davis ran pretty well last week, although Carson returns this week, so probably will return to a backup role. Nick Chubb looked great on both of those long TD runs, interesting to see how much more burn he gets this week, worth adding if he’s still available. Problem is Hyde is still talented and Duke Johnson has his little role. No idea what to do with Drake, Gase doesn’t want to give his best offensive player the ball. It’s ridiculous.

WR’s

Ranking WR’s each week is like breaking pool balls, they can go anyway. That’s why I am taking Ridley at #2. I can see a huge game from the rookie here. AB has breakout game. Corey Davis is emerging as one of the best WR’s in the NFL, think he catches another TD this week. Coutee is going to catch a ton of passes if he plays. James Washington, Christian Kirk and Sutton could all have good games this week. Scantling looks great if Allison is out, if not he’s not worth too much. Boyd keeps it going, Dede continues his momentum from last week, and Alshon beasts again.

TE’s

Ertz has huge game, Kittle stays going with Beathard, Swaim is playing well, he probably will be a decent TE the rest of the year. Njoku possible breakout vs BAL. Goedert could be in the gameplan vs Minny, sneaky play. Ian Thomas could also be sneaky.
