9/30 Player Updates

Giants WR Mario Manningham returned to practice today and all signs point to him playing Sunday night against the Bears. This isn’t great news for rookie Victor Cruz as he is now relegated back to the bench. SOURCE: Ralph Vacchiano on Twitter

Ravens RB Ray Rice says that he is fine and will return to a full practice today. Good news for Rice owners after he suffered a “severe” knee contusion last week. Get him into your lineups as he is the only back to hit the 100yard rushing mark against the Steelers in the past 38 games. SOURCE: Mike Duffy on Twitter

Browns head coach Eric Mangini said QB Jake Delhomme will regain the starting job as soon as he is healthy. Rumors swirled that Delhomme could be back at practice today but that is yet to be confirmed. Delhomme shouldn’t be any where near your roster regardless of him starting or not. Jahvid Best(turf toe) missed practice for the second consecutive day today and is still being called a game time decision. WR Nate Burleson was also MIA at practice as well. SOURCE: Dave Birkett on Twitter

Chargers rookie RB Ryan Mathews returned to a full practice wednesday and is expected to start Sunday at home against the Cardinals. He looks like a safe bet to be back in starting lineups. SOURCE: Kevin Acee on Twitter

RB Pierre Thomas missed practice Wednesday with an ankle injury that caused him to miss some snaps during Sunday’s loss against the Falcons. If he can’t go Sunday rookie Chris Ivory would carry the load and could have  a big day against the Panther Defense. Check back tomorrow for more Thomas info. SOURCE: Jeff Duncan on Twitter UPDATE: Thomas missed his second day of practice today so its looking like his chances are diminishing of playing Sunday. Coach Sean Payton is optimistic that Pierre Thomas (ankle) will return to practice on Friday. “The swelling is going down and he’s feeling better but you just have to give it time and not hurry it,” explained Payton.

Texans receiver Andre Johnson is being called a game time decision against the Raiders. AJ claims he will be out there Sunday no matter what but that’s obviously not solely his decision. Stay tuned. UPDATE: Andre Johnson missed practice again today so tomorrow could be the deciding factor.

Steven Jackson missed practice yesterday with a groin strain and no news as of yet if he will practice today. I’d bet he gets today off again and gives it a go in Friday’s practice. Check back in for SJax updates. Kenneth Darby would start if Jackson were unable to go against the Seahawks. SOURCE: Danny O’Neil on Twitter UPDATE: SJax won’t practice the rest of this week and will test out his groin early Sunday morning. Looks like this will be a game time decision though Steve Jackson concedes that he might have to miss a game to get his groin injury back to full strength, he’s intent on at least trying to play on Sunday. Texans TE Owen Daniels was held out of today’s practice with a hamstring injury. Not looking to good for Daniels so if you have another option, i’d go with that. Stay tuned for updates though regarding this injury and his status for Sunday.

The Ravens cut ties with DL Trevor Pryce Wednesday and Coach Harbaugh said there was good possiblity he would be brought back in at some point. Well too late for that as Pryce signed with the Jets today and is reunited with his former Defensive Coordinator Rex Ryan.

Colts WR Pierre Garcon(hamstring) missed practice once again and is looking more and more like a injury that could linger for a while. Keep Garcon on your bench as Austin Collie and Blair White are now emerging as the #2 and #3 options for Peyton Manning. This could spell trouble for Garcon even when he gets back is White continues to play at a high level. SOURCE:  Phillip B. Wilson on Twitter
