9/27 Player Updates

Happy Monday everybody hope you all enjoyed this weekends games. I know I sure did and am looking forward to tonights Monday Night game between the Packers and Bears from Solidier Field. Here is some injury updates from yesterday and there are a lot of significant ones.

Lions RB Jahvid Best has grade two turf toe and is considered day to day. He should be ready this week unless pain is unbearable. SOURCE: @Adam_Schefter on Twitter

The Carolina Panthers are saying that QB Jimmy Clausen will “most likely” start this week. Yesterday he turned the ball over 3 times against the Bengals and isn’t a fantasy option for the forseeable future.

The Buffalo Bills, one week after losing his starting job, have cut ties with QB Trent Edwards. The job is now Ryan Fitzpatrick’s for the keeping. Fitzpatrick brought a little spark to that offense yesterday who kept up against the Patriots and scored 30 points , more than they had the first two games combined.

Texans WR Andre Johnson reaggravated his ankle injury yesterday in Dallas but isn’t expected to miss any time with it. Obviously you need to monitor this situation and check back here throughout the week for updates.

Bucs RB Cadillac Williams will now start sharing carries with rookie LaGarette Blount going forward. Blount had 6 carries for 27yds and a TD in yesterday’s blowout loss to the Steelers. Blount is a decent waiver add this week on the chance he takes over the role full time and is over his “character” issues. SOURCE: Rick Stroud on Twitter

Rams RB Steven Jackson left yesterday’s game against the Redskins with a groin injury. The severity of this injury is still unknown but Jackson owners should go out and grab Kenneth Darby as he is Jackson’s handcuff. Jackson is scheduled for a MRI sometime today. UPDATE: Jackson had an MRI and it is only a strain, which is great news for the Rams obviously as well as his owners. SOURCE: JasonLaCanfora on Twitter

Saints RB Pierre Thomas suffered what appeared to be a terrible leg injury late during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Falcons. He did however, walk off the field under his own power and thankfully its not as serious as it looked. He was able to return during overtime and it is just being considered a slight ankle injury. He should be a safe start in Week 4 against the Panthers. SOURCE: New Orleans Times-Picayune

Ravens star RB Ray Rice suffered a knee injury Sunday, but it isn’t appeared serious and he is expected to play Week 4. The Ravens and Rice owners seem to have dodged the bullet hear but monitor this situation. Check your wire to see if Willis McGahee is available, as he would be the main benefactor should Rice miss any time.

Cowboy TE Jason Witten suffered an an MCL injury Sunday, which usually calls for missing a few games. Witten proclaims he is just fine and will play week 5 after their bye week. Stay tuned going into next week but if he were to miss any time, Martellus Bennett would be a solid waiver add.

Broncos rookie WR DeMaryius Thomas suffered a hand/wrist injury late in Sunday’s loss to the Colts. His status for week for is not yet known but this would definitely be a big blow for him and his owners, as this guy just seems to be looking like a uber-talented player with the injury bug.

Browns RB Peyton Hillis is expected to remain the starter going forward after putting up big numbers against the Ravens Defense Sunday. Hillis tallied 144 yards on the ground along with a rushing TD. He also contributed with 7 catches for 36 yards. Peyton by far has been the most productive back for the Browns and should onto to the job barring injury. He’ll be a solid flex option every week especially running behind that O-line. SOURCE: Mary Kay Cabot on Twitter

Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe suffered a “tweak” to his leg Sunday but says its no big deal. The Vikings have a bye during week 4 and Shiancoe thinks he and the team need it. Check back next week to make sure everything is fine for your week 5 lineups.

Shiancoe’s teammate, Brett Favre also suffered a neck stinger and is probably looking forward to this bye week as well. It looks like he’ll be just fine going into week 5 but keep checking back here for updates.

Bengal RB Cedric Benson left Sundays game in Carolina with what is being called a “minor” leg injury. As of now thats all it seems to be, but the savvy fantasy owner should already own Bernard Scott just in case this causes Benson to miss anytime, and if he is available, it should go without saying, GO GET HIM!!

Patriots veteran RB Fred Taylor, left Sunday’s game with a toe injury, something that had bothered Taylor in the week leading up to this game. BenJarvus Green-Ellis carried the load in relief finishing with16 carries for 98 yards and a score. BJE is looking more and more like the guy to own in this backfield and is a decent waiver add going into week 4.

Kickers Garrett Hartley(Saints) and Raiders big legged Sebastian Janikowski both missed 3 FG’s Sunday along with potential game winners from inside 30 yards. Both teams will work out kickers during the week so monitor this if your an owner of either of these players and start scouring the waiver wire for potential replacements.
