Lions QB Matthew Stafford reinjured the shoulder that cost him to miss 5 games back in week one. The amount of time he’ll miss has yet to be determined but it doesn’t look good. It looks like he’ll likely be out for a while once again.
Fantasy RB bust Jonathan Stewart left the blowout loss to the Saints with a head injury during the first half. It appears he suffered a concussion and he’ll have an MRI sometime today. DeAngelo Williams(ankle) may be pressed to “heal” up quickly to play this week if Stewart is unable to go. Stewart has been one of fantasy’s biggest disappointments but he can’t take all the blame as the Panthers offensive line and QB play has been all but atrocious.QB Matt Moore also left in the second quarter with a shoulder injury. The extent of it is yet to be determined, however coach John Fox stated if Moore is healthy, he is our starter. UPDATE: Matt Moore‘s season is over with a torn labrum. He is being placed on IR and rookie Jimmy Clausen will take over. Downgrade all Panthers going forward as the offense has been abysmal with Clausen under center.
Colts receiver Austin Collie suffered a concussion during a huge hit by an Eagles defender during Sunday’s loss. Collie layed motionless for several minutes but luckily once in the locker room he was alert and responsive. We’ll see how much time he misses but at least he seems to have avoided the major injury that was though at first sight.
Chargers RB Ryan Mathews reaggravated his ankle injury during Sunday’s win against the Texans. He will have the week 10 bye to heal up but if he were to miss time, Mike Tolbert would once again launch up the ranks among running backs.
Texans QB Matt Schaub injured his ribs during Sunday’s loss to the Chargers and was visibly in pain during the game. Schaub is downplaying it and saying there is no injury but we’ll see how true that is as the week goes on.
Arguably fantasy’s best WR thus far Roddy White had his least productive game of the season Sunday against the Bucs but a knee injury is to blame. He had x-rays during halftime and returned to the game but it was obviously a issue in the second half. White appears to have avoided a serious injury but this is something to monitor going into week 10.
Giants WR Hakeem Nicks injured his ankle and sat out the fourth quarter in Sunday’s blowout win over Seattle. It’s likely he was held out as a precaution as the game was in hand from the 2nd quarter but we’ll keep an eye on this situation as the week goes on. Nicks finished with six catches for 128 yards and a touchdown along with 13 targets.
The Saints RB issues just keep on piling up as rookie Chris Ivory seperated his shoulder Sunday against the Panthers. With Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush still on the shelf, the Saints will have to rely on veterans Julius Jones and Ladell Betts to carry the load. Ivory’s timetable is yet to be known but i’d assume it’ll be a significant amount of time.
Kicker’s injured Sunday are Lions Jason Hanson suffered a leg injury during Sunday’s loss to the Jets and rookie DT Ndamukong Suh had to come in and attempt a extra point but shanked it off the right post. Hanson’s status for week 10 is yet to be determined but i’d look for other options this week. Patriots Stephen Gostkowski also left Sunday’s blowout loss to the Browns with a thigh injury and his status for this week is unknown but i’d also explore other options. Unlike Suh, Wes Welker came in and nailed an extra point for the injured Gostkowski and depending on your league’s scoring, you may have been able to pick up an extra fantasy point for that.
