Christmas Eve Player News

Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) will not be active for Sunday’s game at home against the Redskins. Rashad Jennings will draw the start is is a high end flex play with RB2 upside. Mike Sims-Walker (ankle) will not start Sunday but will play. He is likely to only play about half of the snaps as his ankle is still not 100% healed.

Andre Johnson (ankle) is still listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Broncos but some sources believe there is a “real” chance he sits. If he’s out Jacoby Jones and Kevin Walter get a sizable boost in value.

Knowshon Moreno (ribs) has been able to practice Thursday and Friday and has a good chance to play on Sunday, but is still listed as questionable.

Joseph Addai (neck/Shoulder) is listed as probable after practicing fully the last few days. It looks like he’ll finally return in Oakland after a 2 month lay off.

Adrian Peterson (knee/thigh) is likely to give it a go Sunday in Philly according to head coach Leslie Frazier.

Chad OchoCinco (ankle) who was looking like he’d play albeit only about half the snaps, now appears to be likely to sit as coach Marvin Lewis stated Friday that Ocho is “iffy” to play Week 16 against the Chargers. Get him out of your lineups if for some reason he was still there.

Peyton Hillis (knee) practiced on a limited basis for the second straight day Friday and is listed as probable. According to most reports it looks like he’ll go Sunday at home vs. the Ravens.

Mark Sanchez (shoulder) is going to start barring a major setback. Santonio Holmes (toe) is going to play Sunday in Chicago as well but if Sanchez doesn’t go, its a big hit to Holmes value.

Antonio Gates (toe) is listed as out for Sunday’s game against the Bengals, and WR Malcom Floyd (hamstrings) is listed as doubtful and is very unlikely to play.

Lions QB Shaun Hill (finger) is expected to regain the starting job Sunday in Miami. This gives a slight boost in value to the Lions offensive players even though Drew Stanton did a solid job in his absense.

Chris Ivory (hamstring) was limited in practice today but we should know his status sometime Saturday as to whether he will play or Pierre Thomas/Julius Jones will carry the load.

Anthony Dixon (ankle) has been hobbling around practice the last few days and isn’t likely to see a lot of time if he is active based on sources reports. He has a solid matchup this week but it looks like Brian Westbrook will get majority of touches this week.

Mario Manningham (heel) practiced in full Friday and will start against the Packers Sunday.

Knownshon Moreno (ribs) is considered questionable to play week 16. His status won’t be known until later in the week. We will keep you posted.

Arian Foster (ankle, hip) is expected to be a full go this weekend, in many owners championship week. It would be a shame if the guy who most likely secured your playoff berth sat in your championship, but for now it looks like he’s going to be just fine.

Aaron Rodgers (concussion) has been medically cleared to play against the Giants in a must win game for both teams but especially Green Bay as their playoff hopes will be over with a loss. Great news to fantasy owners and Packer fans going into week 16.

Adrian Peterson’s sore right knee and thigh are improving greatly but he’s still questionable going into Sunday against the Eagles. They are preceding with caution with this injury and Toby Gerhart looked pretty good against a good Bears run defense except for the fumble he had so don’t be shocked if Toby draws a second straight start.

Panthers RB Mike Goodson sat out Tuesday’s practice with an illness. He’s basically irrelevant going forward as Jonathan Stewart has cemented his role as the lead back. Goodson will only be used on passing downs or to spell Stewart over the next two weeks.

Redskins have announced Rex Grossman will start this week with John Beck, not Donavan McNabb serving as the back up.

Cowboys have placed QB Tony Romo (broken collarbone) on IR thus ending his season and Jon Kitna, who has earned it, will start the team’s final two games.

Brett Favre left last nights blowout loss to the Bears in the second quarter after suffering a concussion. It is not yet known whether he will play again at this point meaning Joe Webb or Patrick Ramsey are likely to play the final two games.

12/20 Player News

Adrian Peterson is surprisingly inactive tonight because of knee/ankle injuries. This is a big blow for owners who had thought he would play.Vikings QB Brett Favre (shoulder) has been upgraded to questionable for tonight’s game against the Bears. This puts a bit of a damper on owners who were hoping to use rookie Joe Webb at wide receiver in some leagues. Favre will throw before the game to see if he can go. We will keep you updated on this news. UPDATE: Brett Favre will start tonight for the Vikings against the Bears. Joe Webb will be the back up.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles had to be helped off the field yesterday but the good news is that it was only leg cramps, nothing more. So he’ll suit up next week against the Titans.

Fantasy’s number one player, Arian Foster missed most of the 4th quarter Sunday due to a muscle spasm in his glute aka his butt cheek. This will be interesting to follow going into most league’s finals. We’ll keep you up to date as we receive info.

Broncos QB Tim Tebow was fairly impressive in his first start yesterday, and obviously impressed his coaches and teammates enough to earn the starting gig the last two weeks of the season. RB Knowshon Moreno left Sunday’s loss to the Raiders early on with rib injury. The severity of the injury is not yet known and we’ll update you as more information becomes available.

Colts receiver Austin Collie (concussion) has likely played his final play of the 2010 season after suffering his third concussion in the last seven weeks. Before exiting Sunday’s game he did post up the second most fantasy points at receiver in standard scoring leagues. Hopefully his recovery goes well and he’ll have a big 2011 season.

Lions QB Drew Stanton suffered a Grade 3 separation of his non-throwing shoulder during Sunday’s win in Tampa. It may require surgery but since its his non throwing shoulder he may be able to play through it especially with Shaun Hill (finger) status going forward still up in the air.

Steelers TE Heath Miller who sat out Sunday’s loss to the Jets with a concussion is expected to return to the starting lineup Thursday night against the Panthers. Miller hasn’t been consistent enough to be counted on as more than a TE2 thus far in 2010.

Cardinals receiver Early Doucet left Sunday’s game against the Panthers with an injured hip and is expected to have an MRI later today or tomorrow. At this point in the season, Doucet can’t be counted on and shouldn’t be rostered in re-draft leagues.

Bengals WR Terrell Owens is undergoing season ending surgery today to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He is out for the season but vows he will be back for the 2011 season.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (concussion) status for Sunday’s game against the Giants won’t be updated until at least Wednesday. 3rd year QB Matt Flynn played pretty well last night in a hostile environment against the leagues best team until the end where his lack of experience took over. This week is a big game for both teams as their fighting for their playoff lives.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (concussion) has been officially ruled out for Sunday nights game in New England. Matt Flynn will get the start.

TE Heath Miller (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jets. Safety Troy Polamalu (achilles) has also been ruled out for Sunday and potentially miss the remainder of the regular season.

Vikings QB Joe Webb will get his first start Monday night with Brett Favre ruled out and Tavaris Jackson placed on IR. He’s not a start at QB this week but if your league has him eligible at wide receiver, he’s not a terrible play there especially in standard scoring leagues. Adrian Peterson (knee) returned to practice Saturday after missing the last few days and is going to be a go Monday night.

Broncos QB Kyle Orton (ribs, forearm) could get the nod Sunday but will have a short leash if he is unable to generate any type of offense. Rookie Tim Tebow would be next in line if Orton doesn’t go or is pulled.

Lions RB’s Jahvid Best (toe) and Maurice Morris (toe) were both limited in practice Friday but are listed as probable. Neither is anything more than a desperate flex play however.

Chargers Antonio Gates (foot) and Malcom Floyd (hamstring) are out for tonights game against the 49ers.

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel (appendectomy)was limited in practice Thursday for the second straight day. The feeling around Kansas City is that he’ll be able to go but it’s obvious he’s not 100% just yet. Stay tuned.

Chris Ivory (hamstring) will be reevaluated tomorrow for his hamstring injury after getting an injection to promote the healing process. His status for this week is still up in the air. Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush would shoulder the load if Ivory couldn’t go.

Percy Harvin (migraine) returned to practice Thursday and is on schedule to start Monday night against the Bears. Rookie QB Joe Webb is also slated to make his first career start against the very tough Bears defense. I wouldn’t expect a ton out of Webb, but he is wide receiver eligible in yahoo league’s so he may be an asset their, especially if he can use his feet a little bit.

Raiders TE Zach Miller (foot) practiced in full Thursday and should be good to go Sunday against the Broncos. Miller finally posted solid numbers last week grabbing four balls for 68 yards, so he’s a solid start this week now that he seems to be healthy.

The Packers will make a decision on Aaron Rodgers (concussion) status by Saturday. The feel is that he won’t be able to go but we’ll just have to wait and see. Without Rodgers, the Pack has virtually no shot at beating the Patriots. Matt Flynn would make his first career start if Rodgers couldn’t go.

Austin Collie (concussion) is going to make his return Sunday in a big divisional game against the Jags. He’s a solid WR3. Joseph Addai (neck/shoulder) and Mike Hart (ankle) were both limited at practice Thursday and are not expected to play. Javarris James and Donald Brown will share the load with Jame’s being the much better flex start over Brown.

Desean Jackson (foot) was unable to practice Thursday but proclaims he’ll start on Sunday against the Giants. We’ll have to wait on see on this one, as DJax isn’t the only one who gets to make this decision.

Cardinals Beanie Wells (flu) and Steve Breaston (knee) were both limited in practice Thursday but both are expected to play. With Tim Hightower undoubtedly the better option at this point, keep Wells on your bench, if he’s still even owned in your league.

Kyle Orton (forearm) may be unable to go Sunday and has been unable to practice the last few days. Rookie Tim Tebow has been taking all the first team reps and would start if Orton wasn’t able to go. Brandon Lloyd (calf) returned to full participation in practice Thursday and will be good to go Sunday vs. the Raiders.

Arian Foster was added to the Texans injury report with a hip issue but has not sat out any practices. This is a good sign as the injury doesn’t appear to be serious and he is expected to play in a great matchup against the Titans.

Donald Driver (quad) is not listed on the Packers injury report after sitting out practice early in the week. He’s not a good start this week unless Rodgers is able to play.

David Garrard seemed to have tweaked his hamstring during Thursday’s practice or possibly Wednesday’s and was limited today. I wouldn’t worry to much about it as he’s a fighter and their is no way he’s sitting out against the Colts with the division on the line.

Patriots receiver Deion Branch (knee) was limited in practice today but should be fine and is expected to start against Green Bay Sunday.

Adrian Peterson (knee) was added to the Vike’s injury report Thursday but it is not thought of as serious and he should be good to go Monday night against the Bears.

12/15 Early Player News

Giants wideout Steve Smith is done for the season with a knee injury. We reported yesterday that it was a hammy issue but that was obviously incorrect but those were original reports. Mario Manningham (hip) is expected to return to practice by Thursday and hopes to play Sunday against the Eagles. The Giants need him back in this huge divisional game.

Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw, who suffered a wrist injury Monday night against the Vikings says it is of no concern and he will be out their Sunday against the Eagles. I tend to believe what he says and he is a must start.

Browns QB Colt McCoy (ankle) is expected to start Sunday according to coach Mangini saying he will get a “decent amount of first team snaps today” in practice. Expect him to return this week.

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel (appendectomy) returned to practice Wednesday and looks on target to start Sunday.

Aaron Rodgers (concussion) missed Wednesday’s practice and Sunday’s status is still uncertain.  UPDATE: Head Coach Mike McCarthy said during Wednesday’s press conference that he doesn’t think Aaron Rodgers will be able to play Sunday vs. the Patriots. This is a big blow to the Packs playoff hopes if he does indeed sit. Matt Flynn would take the reigns in that scenario.

Cowboys RB Marion Barber practiced Wednesday after missing two weeks with a calf injury. His return obviously hurts Tashard Choice’s value going forward.

Colts wideout Austin Collie (concussion) is expected to practice Wednesday and should be on track to return for Sunday’s big matchup with the Jaguars.

Chargers TE Antonio Gates (foot) missed Wednesday’s practice and his status for week 15 is uncertain. It is now looking like he’ll sit out tomorrow night’s game vs. the 49ers since he was unable to go today. Act like he’s not going to go and make other arrangements.

Lions WR Shaun Hill (finger) has a very realistic chance to start Sunday against the Bucs. Hill is definitely an upgrade over Drew Stanton, however Stanton has proven he can hold his own out their.

Eagles receiver Desean Jackson is listed as day to day with a sprained foot according to coach Andy Reid. If Jackson is unable to go Sunday that would be a big blow to the Eagles going against the Giants in a big game that could ultimately decide the division. If he can’t go Jason Avant would step into the starting lineup and would have some flex value this week.

12/7 Evening Player News

Austin Collie- Has been ruled out for Thursday’s night game against the Titans due to the concussion affects. Collie could really help this offense, as the Colts have been desperate even signing Dominic Rhodes today to maybe try to bolster their run attack for Thursday.

Tashard Choice- Jason Garret and Jerry Jones have both confirmed that Choice has earned a larger role after last week’s 100 yd performance vs the Colts. It was a good matchup for Choice, but he is talented and a better runner then Marion Barber at this point. He arguably could be the best runner on the team. He has two solid matchups the next two weeks vs the Redskins and Cardinals, so it looks like Choice is going to be a solid fantasy starter for the playoffs.

Kenny Britt- Is set to return for Thursday night’s game as he’s not on the injury report, but the Titans haven’t decided if he will be the #1 wideout yet. With Kerry Collins struggling and Randy Moss taking catches away, it’s risky to go with Britt for the opening week of the playoffs. Although the titans should be passing a lot this week. I think Britt is a low-end #2 this week.

Joseph Addai- With the short week it looks like Addai might have to sit yet another week with his neck injury. Beat reporters in Indy are both stating they he will probably miss the game. Addai did practice in a limited fashion today so stay tuned, but either way it will be hard to rely on him this week. Mike Hart is also expected to miss Thursday’s game. UPDATE: ADDAI, COLLIE, HART, ClINT SESSION, will all miss Thursday Night’s game.

Donald Brown- Looks like he will start for Thursday, but you def want to search for other options.

James Starks- Starks who was a hot waiver pickup weeks ago, finally got to play this week and produced and got 18 carries. Former Packer RB and now Packers RB coach Edgar Bennett stated Starks has the “type of talent where he can stay on the field in every situation.” It looks like Starks will be the main back now in GB, although Jackson should continue to see some looks as well as Kuhn.

Brent Celek- Celek who has been heating up in recent weeks, stated that injuries caused his slow start. Now that Celek is healthier and teams starting to try to take away Jackson and Maclin more Celek should stay somewhat consistent throughout the fantasy playoffs. I would expect 50 yard games or close to it from here on out with a TD sprinkled in here and there.

Mike Williams -Seattle- Pete Carroll thinks that Williams will be able to go despite his bad ankle sprain. Stay tuned on this one, if Williams goes he makes for a low-end flex play against San Fransisco.

12/3 Player News

Texans WR Andre Johnson tweaked his ankle during Thursday’s loss to the Eagles but an MRI reavealed no serious damage. He’ll be fine going into Week 14 with a 10 day lay off.

Titans QB Kerry Collins(calf) was limited in practice Friday but hopes are that he’ll be able to go Sunday against the weak Jaguars secondary. He would be a big upgrade for Nate Washington and Randy Moss over Rusty Smith. Kenny Britt(hamstring) is eyeing a week 14 return. Britt was able to do some light drills this week but needs one more week to be back in game shape.

Seahawks WR Mike Williams(f00t) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game but says he expects to play. This would be a big hit to Ben Obomanu’s production but Williams very easily could reaggravate this injury and leave the game early, so i’d keep Obomanu in lineups as the Panthers will be keyed on Williams if he’s in the game.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson(ankle) practiced Friday and is being considered probable for Sunday’s dream matchup with the Bills. I’d expect Toby Gerhart to steal some carries especially if the game gets out of hand early. Percy Harvin(migraines) was limited in practice Friday and is going to be a game time decision.

Antonio Gates(foot), Mike Tolbert(hand) and Ryan Mathews(ankle) are participated in Friday’s practice and are on track to play Sunday. Tolbert and Mathews are expected to split carries with Tolbert the more likely one to take goal line carries.

Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker(ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup with the Titans. Upgrade TE Marcedes Lewis as he is the only other viable threat besides Mike Thomas for David Garrard to throw too.

The Browns have confirmed Jake Delhomme will start at QB Sunday in Miami.

Jets Safety Jim Leonhard left Friday’s practice on a cart after breaking his tibia. He will now miss the remainder of the season. This is a big blow to the Jets secondary and return game. Eric Smith and Brodney Pool are expected to rotate in at safety while Antonio Cromartie will take over as the punt returner.

Falcons WR Roddy White(knee) as expected practiced in full Friday and is good to go Sunday against the Bucs.

Raiders TE Zach Miller(foot) said he expects to play in San Diego Sunday in a decent matchup as the Chargers pass defense has been great but they have allowed at least 13 fantasy points to TE’s in 5 of the last 6 weeks.

Colts RB Mike Hart(ankle) was unable to practice Friday but is still expected to play Sunday against the Cowboys. Donald Brown will get the start once again as Joseph Addai(neck/shoulder) seems to be a week away from returning to the starting lineup.

Saints RB Pierre Thomas(ankle) was limited in practice Friday but Coach Payton says there is still a “realistic chance” he will play against the Bengals. Even if Thomas does play he’ll have to fight for touches with Chris Ivory, Reggie Bush and dare I say Julius Jones who has actually showed signs of life since becoming a Saint. I wouldn’t recommend starting Thomas if he does play until his role and health are better known.

Bills RB C.J. Spiller(hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday and will play Sunday in Minnesota. Fred Jackson will still get the majority of touches as Spiller will likely be worked back into the mix slowly.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger(foot) will play Sunday in Baltimore in a big division game. Big Ben was unable to get through a full practice all week but the Steelers will implement more shotgun plays in order to help him make it through the whole game. There is no question if Big Ben can walk, he will play in a game that could very likely decide the division.

11/30 Player News

49ers RB Frank Gore was placed on I.R. Tuesday with a fractured hip. Brian Westbrook, who shredded the Cardinals defense for 136 yards and a touchdown will start this Sunday. Rookie Anthony Dixon(54 yards, 1 TD) will take over back up duties and is worth a flier in deeper leagues in case Westbrook’s health becomes an issue.

Raiders QB Bruce Gradkowski’s season is now over after reinjuring his throwing shoulder during Sunday’s home loss to the Dolphins. Jason Campbell will retake the starting job.

Colts QB Peyton Manning suffered a stinger during Sunday’s loss to the Chargers. The injury is considered minor however and we fully expect him to play in week 13.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger suffered a sprained foot during Sunday’s contest against the Bills. Big Ben played through the injury and will be placed in a walking boot this week. I’d bet he plays Sunday night against the Ravens but stay tuned for updates.

Raiders TE Zach Miller actually has been dealing with a torn plantar fascia the last few weeks and then preceded to leave Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins with a badly bruised fibula. Miller seems to be quite the mess at this point with leg injuries, and i’m not so sure he’ll get back to 100% any time this year.

Texans TE Owen Daniels(hamstring) is fully expected to return Week 14. Joel Dreessen is expected to make at least one more start and is a borderline TE1 for one more week.

Cowboys RB Marion Barber(calf) is expected to miss the next two weeks. This means Felix Jones touches will increase and this will be Tashard Choice’s chance to overtake Barber as the number two back going forward.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson’s MRI revealed that his ankle is only sprained which is a great sign. He is currently expecting to start Sunday but we’ll monitor his status as the week goes on.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson’s return Sunday night was ended quickly when he left the game with calf injuries. After missing the first 11 weeks, he will now be out until at least week 15 now with the double calf ailment. It’s a shame as many owners felt he would be a HUGE addition to their lineups, now will have to go back to their previous options.

Packers WR Greg Jennings(foot) is not expected to practice until Thursday at the very least after being diagnosed with a foot strain. He’s likely to suit up Sunday but we’ll see how he responds when he returns to practice.

Bills rookie running back C.J. Spiller(hamstring) is expected to return this week after missing the last three games. I don’t think he’ll eat into Fred Jackson’s touches too much, but it’s really anyones guess as to what the Bills will do at this point.

Brandon Marshall(hamstring) who missed his first game due to injury every during Week 12, is considered day-to-day for the time being. If he is unable to go this week, Davone Bess and Brian Hartline would make solid flex options especially with Chad Henne back under center against the Browns.

Lions QB Shaun Hill has a broken index finger and it is feared that his season may be over. Matthew Stafford is still trying to come back from yet another shoulder injury meaning Drew Stanton could be under center this week which would decrease the value of almost all the Lions offensive players against the Bears.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has declined to name a starter at running back for week 13. Keiland Williams barely received any carries and James Davis got some second half carries. This right now appears like something you’ll want to avoid going forward because Coach Shanahan can just never make up his mind and leave it to him to ruin a decent run the rookie Williams had been on.

Colts RB Joseph Addai(neck/shoulder) is unfortunately unlikely to retun in Week 13. He will be limited to non contact practices once again this week which further enforces people’s belief that he won’t return this week. Donald Brown will likely get another start and while Brown has been ineffective in the running game, he has actually been productive in the passing game so he’s a solid start in PPR league’s this week.
