Christmas Eve Player News

Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) will not be active for Sunday’s game at home against the Redskins. Rashad Jennings will draw the start is is a high end flex play with RB2 upside. Mike Sims-Walker (ankle) will not start Sunday but will play. He is likely to only play about half of the snaps as his ankle is still not 100% healed.

Andre Johnson (ankle) is still listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Broncos but some sources believe there is a “real” chance he sits. If he’s out Jacoby Jones and Kevin Walter get a sizable boost in value.

Knowshon Moreno (ribs) has been able to practice Thursday and Friday and has a good chance to play on Sunday, but is still listed as questionable.

Joseph Addai (neck/Shoulder) is listed as probable after practicing fully the last few days. It looks like he’ll finally return in Oakland after a 2 month lay off.

Adrian Peterson (knee/thigh) is likely to give it a go Sunday in Philly according to head coach Leslie Frazier.

Chad OchoCinco (ankle) who was looking like he’d play albeit only about half the snaps, now appears to be likely to sit as coach Marvin Lewis stated Friday that Ocho is “iffy” to play Week 16 against the Chargers. Get him out of your lineups if for some reason he was still there.

Peyton Hillis (knee) practiced on a limited basis for the second straight day Friday and is listed as probable. According to most reports it looks like he’ll go Sunday at home vs. the Ravens.

Mark Sanchez (shoulder) is going to start barring a major setback. Santonio Holmes (toe) is going to play Sunday in Chicago as well but if Sanchez doesn’t go, its a big hit to Holmes value.

Antonio Gates (toe) is listed as out for Sunday’s game against the Bengals, and WR Malcom Floyd (hamstrings) is listed as doubtful and is very unlikely to play.

Lions QB Shaun Hill (finger) is expected to regain the starting job Sunday in Miami. This gives a slight boost in value to the Lions offensive players even though Drew Stanton did a solid job in his absense.

Chris Ivory (hamstring) was limited in practice today but we should know his status sometime Saturday as to whether he will play or Pierre Thomas/Julius Jones will carry the load.

Anthony Dixon (ankle) has been hobbling around practice the last few days and isn’t likely to see a lot of time if he is active based on sources reports. He has a solid matchup this week but it looks like Brian Westbrook will get majority of touches this week.

Mario Manningham (heel) practiced in full Friday and will start against the Packers Sunday.

Week 15 Active/Inactives

Broncos rookie Tim Tebow will draw his first start with Kyle Orton sitting out with rib and arm injuries.

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio is reporting what most expected, Desean Jackson (foot) will play today against the Giants.

Saints rookie Chris Ivory (hamstring) will not play today. Pierre Thomas is a solid flex play as well as Reggie Bush, especially in PPR leagues.

David Garrard (hamstring) and Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) are both going to play but their seems to be some legitimate concern about Garrard’s hamstring. If you have another option at QB, keep Garrard on the bench as we are uncertain how well or long he’ll play today.

Austin Collie (concussion), Jacob Tamme (knee) will play today so get both back in your lineups. Joseph Addai (neck/shoulder) is expected to sit out once again today. Javarris James and Donald Brown will get bulk of carries, with James being the one to start in fantasy leagues.

Mario Manningham (hip) is expected to play today. He’s a fine flex play today.

Matt Cassel (appendectomy) is expected to start today which is great news for Chiefs fans and Dwayne Bowe owners. It appears Cassel’s not 100% yet but he’s going to give it a go.

Jahvid Best (toe) and Maurice Morris (toe) are both expected to play and split carries 50/50 today in Tampa. Shaun Hill (finger) is still not ready to return so Drew Stanton will draw at least one more start.

Adrian Peterson (ankle, knee) is going to play Monday night so no worries their, get him in your lineup.

1 O’clock Breakdowns

By: Al Squatrito

Bengals vs. Saints
The 2-9 Bengals will host the 8-3 Saints on Sunday in hopes to prevent a nine game losing streak. Two non-bound playoff teams have already upset the New Orleans Saints this season, (Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns) and the Bengals aren’t going down without a fight. The Bengals secondary is still a bit banged up and it is going to be a tough to get a win against former Super Bowl champs but it is still possible. The Saints rank number one against the pass so it smells like Cedric Benson may have a solid outing against a rush defense who gives up 4.2 yards a carry. Reggie Bush will be back for his second straight game and this will be a good game for him to shake off some rust while the Bengals rush defense is giving up a miserable 4.5 yards a carry. I wouldn’t start any Saints running backs with confidence but I consider Bush and Chris Ivory both decent flex starts. I think Ochocinco has a good game and is a solid number 2 wide receiver and Carson Palmer is a solid number two quarterback at home. The Bengals can’t play any worse and have nothing to lose. This can be a trap game for the Saints. I like the Bengals to upset the Saints 31-28 at home.(Editor’s note- He picks the Bengals every week!)
Lions vs. Bears
The 8-4 Bears take on the 2-9 Lions as the Bears have been on a hot streak, silencing the critics. The Lions can’t find any luck at quarterback this season as Matt Stafford and Shaun Hill will remain sidelined for the game. Third String quarterback Drew Stanton will get the start. Calvin Johnson’s fantasy matchup this weekend may seem less desirable as usual with Stanton starting and the Bears only giving up 8 passing touchdowns on the season. On the contrary the Bears have given up 9 touchdowns if you consider the touchdown that was taken back on opening day against the Bears an actual touchdown which I do. Also, if its anything that the Lions have going for them on offense it’s Calvin Johnson and you better believe Drew Stanton will be looking his way early and often in this matchup. There are talks of Jahvid Best being ready to play but I am sure they will use their running backs by committee come Sunday. Calvin seems to be the only player you can start against the Bears this weekend along with Pettigrew as a low number 2 tight end. Mike Martz has been talking Johnny Knox up a lot lately and has mentioned taking more shots down the field. Johnny Knox and Devin Hester may both have a solid outing. I can’t help but to love Matt Forte as well in this matchup who blew the Lions up on opening day but I don’t think he will have as good as a game in week 1 because the Lions are home and are better against the run when they are home. I like the Bears to win this game 28-20.

Packers vs. Niners
The 4-7 49ers will travel to Green Bay to take on the 7-4 Packers. The 49ers are a game out of first place in NFC West Division but still have yet to found their identity back from last season. Their defense has finally started to play like the world has seen in previous games but their offense has been kind of suspect. Frank Gore has been placed on injured reserve while the 49ers are a run first team. Luckily, the 49ers signed veteran running back Brian Westbrook and drafted rookie Anthony Dixon who will share the load going forward. On paper this looks like one of the best teams in the NFL playing one of the worst teams in the NFL and for the most part that stands true on two legs. However, the 49ers are starting to play the kind of football they know they can play. The Niners give up 3.6 yards a carry to opposing offense while the Packers do surprisingly average 4.0 yards a carry but they are ranked 23rd in total rushing offense. The 49ers have played pass happy offense New Orleans close this season losing 25-22 in their home opener but it’s going to take a little bit more this Sunday on the road against Green Bay. This game is going to be won and lost in the trenches and if the 49ers can get their run game going early and often they have a slight chance to upset the Packers. The Packers are giving up an average of 15 points to their opponents per game and the chances of the 49ers winning are unlikely, but it can still happen. I like Anthony Dixon and Brian Westbrook in fantasy leagues this week. They will get plenty of touches while Dixon will get the goal line carries. You still have to plug Vernon Davis in your lineups as the captain was seen almost crying on Monday before they played the Cardinals because he wanted to win so badly. He is due for a turnaround game and averages a touchdown every time the 49ers play the Packers. Aaron Rodgers is going to tear it up as usual and I think James Jones may have the best day out of all of the receivers. I like the Packers winning this game 20-13.

Chiefs vs. Broncos
Wow the Denver Broncos are falling apart! They have been accused of cheating and Coach Josh McDaniels was hesitant to come forward about the situation right from the start. The Broncos are also giving up an average of 29 points a game! They are making the Panthers and Cardinals defense starting to look pretty good and that is just sad. Jamaal Charles or Jam Chaz has been averaging 6.3 yards a carry while Matt Cassel has the fourth best overall quarterback rating at 99 and leads his team on top of their division with a 7-4 record. The Chiefs are 5-0 at home and I don’t think they are due for a letdown this week. Jam Chaz may have his best day on the ground as the Broncos rank 30th against the run. Coach Todd Haley and Josh McDaniels did not shake hands after the first game they played where the Chiefs were handed a blowout loss. This is a revenge game for the Chiefs as they seem to have put all the pieces together. As for Denver, all their pieces are falling apart and will continue to do so. I like Dwayne Bowe, Jam Chaz, Matt Cassel, and Dexter McCluster to make an impact in this game and boss the Broncos defense around. I like Kyle Orton as a low-end number 1 quarterback with some risk while Brandon Lloyd is going to be zoned in on all game. Lloyd seems like a risky number one this weekend. I like the Chiefs to blast the Broncos away at home 41-24.

Dolphins vs. Browns
The 4-7 Cleveland Browns travel to Miami to take on the 6-5 Dolphins who have only won one home game thus far this season. Jake Delhomme will probably get the start against the fourth ranked pass defense. Jake just isn’t a quarterback you can trust and he doesn’t give his team the greatest chance of winning but if they establish the run well enough to set up the play action, it is possible to pull out a victory. Still, I don’t think that is going to happen especially since the Dolphins have been giving up 3.8 yards a carry but Peyton Hillis is still a reliable fantasy running back for this Sunday as he is all the Browns truly have. I like the Dolphins to stick with their running game as they did last game and keep that moving forward throughout the remainder of the season. I think Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown are solid flex starts this weekend against the 21st overall rush defense. I like the Dolphins to win their second home game of the season 24-20.

Vikings vs. Bills
Why so serious? Steve Johnson has been the best waiver wire pickup this season and consistently finds himself in the end zone game in and game out. The Vikings defense lacks consistent pass coverage and they can be vulnerable once again comes Sunday, but they have been playing well for new Head Coach Leslie Frazier. The Vikings were one of the best teams in football last year and they have failed to be one of the better teams thus far in this season, they have only showed a few glimpses. I think we see another one of those glimpses this Sunday at home and continue their winning streak. With or without Adrian Peterson, the Bills are still dead last against the run. Sidney Rice will start his second game this season and he won’t be the one being double covered this time around. Percy Harvin will open up some space for Sidney and he will look like his former self this Sunday. Fred Jackson is a risky number two running back this week while Steve Johnson has the most upside. I like the Vikings to dominate the Bills for four quarters and win with ease. I see the Vikings winning 24-13.

Redskins vs. Giants
The Giants are that type of team that play up to competition and play down to competition. The Giants are clearly the better team but Mike Shanahan will find a way to keep the Redskins in the game throughout. The Giants pass rush is one of the best in the league against one of the worst offensive lines in the league when it comes to passing downs. I expect this to be the main difference in the game which gives the Giants the edge. I like Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs to have solid fantasy numbers while Easy E (Eli Manning) can have a solid day himself. The Redskins rank 29th in the league against the pass and are ranked 26th against the run.  The Giants should blow the Redskins out of the water but it is possible the Redskins keep it within 7. I am scared to start any running back from the Redskins this week as it seems to be running back by committee over there. I like the Giants winning this one 21-17.

Titans vs. Jags
The Tennessee Titans seem to be one of the few teams that are currently self-destructing. Vince Young was placed on injured reserve after his outburst two weeks ago and Jeff Fisher may be coaching for another team in 2011. The Titans were accused of playing dirty the last time they played the Jags (which was on Monday night) and David Garrard left the game with a concussion. This game has revenge written all over it. Kerry Collins can get it done and gave their team a 13-3 record a few years back but this is when their defense was ranked 5th overall and only gave up 14.6 points a game.  The Titans defense is ranked 24th overall in 2010 and gives up 19.8 points a game. I expect some chemistry in the air with Randy Moss and Kerry Collins because Randy Moss is simply due and the Jags aren’t the greatest team in the league defending the pass. I think the Jags to go on the road and win this one because David Garrard has been playing better despite the fact that he gave up a huge fumble last week that practically lost them the game, but he is running the ball for first downs and keeping their offense on the field while their defense is on the sideline resting. Maurice Jones-Drew is on a hot streak right now ever since their left guard got back on the field and he will explode once again comes Sunday. I like the Jags to win this game 31-24 and keep their first place spot in the AFC South.

11/27 Player News

The Raiders have announced that Bruce Gradkowski and not Jason Campbell will start Sunday against the Dolphins. SOURCE: : Adam Schefter on Twitter

Raiders TE Zach Miller(foot) and Darrius Heyward-Bey(hamstring) are both expected to start Sunday. Miller is an average start as he still doesn’t appear to be 100% and DHB is just too inconsistent to be trusted week in and out.

Maurice Jones-Drew(abdomen) is listed as questionable for Sunday against the Giants but is fully expected to play. He will however be without LT Eugene Monroe which will make MJD’s matchup tougher, but he is a must start. Mike Sims-Walker(ankle) is listed as questionable but is believed to be in the lineup. I’d sit him either way as long as you have another option as I can’t see him being close to 100%.

Titans WR Kenny Britt(hamstring) has been officially ruled out once again. Rookie QB Rusty Smith will make his first start against the horrid Texans pass defense, making Nate Washington and Randy Moss decent options even with the rookie under center.

Texans TE Owen Daniels(hamstring) has been ruled out meaning Joel Dreessen will start once again and is a low end TE1 this week.

Redskins WR Santana Moss(hamstring) is going to be a game time decision and I recommend sitting him as these hamstring injuries can flare up at a moments notice. If you have another option, use him.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart(concussion) and QB Jimmy Clausen(concussion) are both expected to return this week. Stewart will likely split carries with Mike Goodson in his return against the Browns.

Browns QB Jake Delhomme(ankle) is 100% healed and will get the start with Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace nursing ankle injuries. He is not a fantasy option.

Seahawks receiver Mike Williams(foot) is going to be a game time decision and will play sparingly even if he does play. Explore other options and keep Williams on benches for the time being.

Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki(concussion) and Dexter McCluster(ankle) are both expected to return to the lineup Sunday in Seattle. Moeaki is a low end TE1 while McCluster shouldn’t be started unless your in return yardage leagues.

Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall(hamstring) will miss his first game due to injury in his career. QB Chad Henne(knee) apparently has some miracle healer because two weeks ago we thought his season was over, but he will now start Sunday in Oakland.

Chargers TE Antonio Gates(foot) is a game time decision but most reports i’ve read lean towards him sitting. Don’t wait until 8pm to see if he’s active, start someone else. RB Ryan Mathews(ankle) will sit again leaving Mike Tolbert to get the bulk of the carries against the Colts and their 30th ranked run defense.

Colts WR Austin Collie(concussion), RB’s Joseph Addai(neck) and Mike Hart(ankle) have all been ruled out for Sunday night. WR Blair White will play for Collie while Donald Brown will carry the load at RB. Reggie Wayne(knee) will play even though he is currently listed as questionable.

49ers TE Vernon Davis(ankle) is ready to go after a good week of practice. The ankle has been bothering him for weeks now it appears and shouldn’t be an issue going forward, start Davis.

Packers placed LB Nick Barnett on the injured reserve, thus ending his season. SOURCE: Rob Demovsky on Twitter

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (concussion) practiced Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday. Coach McCarthy said Rodgers is “ready to play” barring any unforeseen setbacks. Keep him in your lineups in a solid home matchup against the Dolphins.

Colts RB’s Joseph Addai(shoulder) and Mike Hart(hip) returned to full practices Friday and will both play, with Hart backing up Addai. Donald Brown (hamstring) didn’t practice Friday and is unlikely to play again this week. WR’s Austin Collie(foot) and Pierre Garcon(hamstring) practiced without limitations Friday and will start Sunday night in Washington.

Maurice Jones-Drew(wrist,ankle) returned to practice Friday and will start Monday night against the Titans.

Lions WR Calvin Johnson(shoulder) had his most intense practice of the week Friday and it looks like he’ll go Sunday against the Giants in a tough matchup. SOURCE: Dave Birkett on Twitter

Lions WR Nate Burleson(ankle) was limited in practice Friday but is officially listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Giants. RB Jahvid Best (toe) was also limited Friday but will start in a tough matchup Sunday.

Saints RB Pierre Thomas(ankle) has been officially ruled out for Week 6 against Tampa Bay. This was not unexpected as Thomas has been unable to practice all week. We’ll just wait and see how he feels going into week 7. Ladell Betts and Chris Ivory will once again split backfield duties. UPDATE: Thomas’s ankle sprain was originally diagnosed as a 4-6 week injury, which mean’s he’ll likely miss week 7 game as well. This is unfortunate as he is already expected to miss again and with their bye week not until week 10, it’ll be at least 5 games fantasy owners will be without Thomas. SOURCE: New Orleans Times-Picayune

Vikings QB Brett Favre(elbow) is being considered a game time decision as to whether he will play or not. He did do some light throwing Friday and should be good to go. This game could be do or die for the Vikings so I can’t imagine him not going. SOURCE: Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews practiced in full Friday and is line for more touches this week. Mike Tolbert still has value as a flex play against the Rams, but this could very well be his last week as a fantasy starter. SOURCE:  Kevin Acee on Twitter

WR Legedu Naanee (hamstring) missed practice again today and is expected to sit against the Rams. He hasn’t had any value since his great week one performance, so if you still own him, its time to cut bait. SOURCE:  Kevin Acee on Twitter

Texans WR Jacoby Jones (calf) fully practiced Friday and is expected to play Sunday against the Chiefs. SOURCE: Nick Scurfield on Twitter

RB Darren McFadden(hamstring) has still not been able to practice and is unlikely to play Sunday against the 49ers. Michael Bush will get the start and is a solid flex play this week.

Raiders QB Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder) isn’t expected to play Sunday and missed practice all week with this injury. Jason Campbell will get the start against the 49ers. SOURCE: Vittorio Tafur on Twitter

Broncos WR DeMaryius Thomas (head/neck) and RB Knowshon Moreno both practiced today and are looking like they’ll play Sunday against the Jets, but are both still being considered game time decisions. Neither are good plays this week, especially Thomas who has fallen to 4th on the depth chart. SOURCE: Andrew Mason on Twitter

Tampa WR Mike Williams (foot) is expected to be a game time decision Sunday against the Saints. He hasn’t practiced all week which is starting to worry me, so stay tuned early Sunday for an update. He’s a solid WR3 if he can play. SOURCE: Bucs on Twitter

10/8 Player Updates

First off, we would like to send our sincere condolences out to Albert Hayneworth and his family for the loss of his half brother, who tragically died last night in Tennessee in a motorcycle accident. We ourselves have lost someone close to us via a motorcycle accident and can understand that this is no easy thing to deal with. We wish the family the best and hope to see Albert back on the field soon.

Now on to the player news for today

Saints RB Pierre Thomas has been ruled out for Sunday’s game in Arizona. Rookie Chris Ivory and veteran Ladell Betts will likely split the load and both make solid flex plays this week.

Lions RB Jahvid Best(turf toe) was limited in practice Friday but is expected to play against the Rams. Keep him in your lineups, but check back Sunday morning for the latest update. TE Tony Scheffler was held out of practice all week but returned in limited fashion Friday. He will be a game time decision so check back Sunday morning for an update.

The Texans are expecting WR Andre Johnson(ankle) to suit up Sunday but is still considered a game time decision. WR Jacoby Jones is expected to sit with a calf injury.

Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew(ankle) practiced fully for the second straight day and is good to go Sunday in Buffalo in a very very good matchup.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden(hamstring) is expected to miss Sundays game against the Chargers, Michael Bush will get the start. WR’s Louis Murphy(clavicle) and Darrius Heyward-Bey(groin) both practiced fully all week and will both start. QB Bruce Gradkowski(shoulder) practiced in full Friday and is expected to play as well.

Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe(hamstring) was limited in practice once again Friday but is still listed as probable for Monday night’s game against the Jets. He is likely to play but if you have a better option and cannot wait until Monday you may want to go that route.

Eagles QB Michael Vick(ribs) has officially been ruled out for this week’s game, Kevin Kolb will start. RB LeSean McCoy(ribs) returned to practice Friday and Coach Andy Reid anticipates McCoy will “play a full game” in San Francsico. Keep an eye out Sunday morning, but all things look good for McCoy to start, he is a solid RB2 this week.

Browns QB Jake Delhomme(ankle) status is still unknown, he was limited in practice Friday and a decision isn’t expected to be made until early Sunday. Delhomme shouldn’t be in any fantasy lineups anyway, but if he plays, WR Mohammed Massaquoi does get a slight boost in value. RB Peyton Hillis (thigh) was held out of Friday’s practice and is listed as questionable although Coach Mangini fully expects Hillis to play.

On the Colts injury report, WR’s Pierre Garcon(hamstring) and Reggie Wayne(knee) both fully participated in practice again Friday and are fully expected to start Sunday. Austin Collie(foot) is listed as questionable and is expected to be a game time decision. RB’s Donald Brown(hamstring) is listed as doubtful while Joseph Addai(knee) is listed as questionable even though he practiced in full all week. We will have updates on these guys throughout the weekend so keep checking back in.

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews(ankle) was limited in practice this week but is expected to start Sunday. They appear to be slowly easing him back after this ankle injury and backup Mike Tolbert is expected to have a pretty even amount of touches with Mathews. Both are solid flex options against a terrible Raider’s run defense.

Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno(hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday against the Ravens. Laurence Maroney and Correll Buckhalter will share the carries. Neither is a good fantasy play.

Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw(ankle) returned to a limited practice Friday and officially is listed as questionable for Sunday in Houston. Bradshaw has stated that he will start however. He is a low end RB2 against a the second best run defense in the league who also gets Defensive Rookie of the Year Brian Cushing back this week.

Player Updates 10/4

Eagles QB Mike Vick left Sunday’s game after suffering chest and rib injury and is scheduled to have an MRI today. Vick was injured after making a great run down to the goal line and was just rocked by two defenders. To add insult to injury their was a holding penalty on that run and the play didn’t count anyway. Kevin Kolb replaced Vick and was mediocre at best. The fear is that Vick has a fractured collarbone so it appears were going to get a second look at Kevin Kolb, at least for a few weeks. SOURCE: Jeff McLane on Twitter UPDATE: No fractured rib or collarbone for Vick, he does have a rib cartilage injury. No timetable yet as to how long he will be out but is considered day to day right now as Vick’s ribs are very sore.

Eagles RB LeSean McCoy now has a fractured rib. HC Andy Reid just made the announcement. No word yet on how long he will be out. The mess is Philly continues to get worse. Mike Bell would get the start if McCoy is going to be out for any period of time. SOURCE: Adam Schefter on Twitter

Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew admits he suffered a light ankle sprain during their upset victory over the Colts. He should be good to go this week, but will probably be limited if not held out of a few practices this week. Check back with us throughout the week for updates. SOURCE: Florida Times Union

Bears QB Jay Cutler was knocked out of Sunday nights have with concussion like symptoms after getting sacked 9 times in the first half against the Giants. His status for next week is not yet known, so monitor the situation closely.

Carolina WR Steve Smith was carted off Sunday against the Saints and has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. This injury usually takes a few weeks to recover from so start looking for other options as they will play it safe with Smith, although he does appear to be a quick healer.  Rookie’s Brandon LaFell and David Gettis would be the starters if Smith misses significant time. SOURCE: Adam Schefter on Twitter

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews has the confidence of his coach Norv Turner and stated that Mathews is still our starter. The reason behind this is that Mike Tolbert had the bulk of the carries as well as being the most productive with his carries. Tolbert had over a 100 total yards and a TD while Mathews had 68 total yards and a TD. Mathews is a pretty safe start going forward and should see his touches increase week by week. SOURCE: San Diego Union-Tribune

Raiders RB Louis Murphy admitted he reaggravated his Collarbone injury and that played a major role in him not seeing a lot of snaps and dropping that pass which was deflected and interecepted to close out the win for the Texans. Keep an eye on Murphy as the week goes on. SOURCE: San Francisco Chronicle

Texans RB Arian Foster was benched for the 1st quarter in Sunday’s win over the Raiders after missing a team meeting. No worries fantasy owners as Foster came into the game in the 2nd quarter and totaled 187 yards and 2 TD. Keep him in all lineups going forward and is a solid low end RB2. SOURCE: John McClain on Twitter

Redskins RB Clinton Portis left Sunday’s game against the Eagles with a groin injury. Portis said he heard his groin pop and immediately went to the trainers table. If you haven’t already picked up Ryan Torain, do it now as Portis will probably miss at least a few weeks of time.

Rams RB Steven Jackson(groin) played yesterday and totaled 124 yards. He said he felt fine during and after the game so it looks like Jackson should be fine going forward.

Texans WR Andre Johnson was a last minute scratch Sunday against the Raiders with an ankle injury. The Texans are reporting they actually decided Johnson wouldn’t play Saturday night but also feel he should be ready to go next week. This is a situation you want to obviously monitor so check back daily for updates on this injury. SOURCE: Houston Chronicle

Texans WR Jacoby Jones left Sunday’s game with an injury to his calf. The severity of the injury is not yet known so keep your eye on this. Losing Jones opens things up for backup TE Joel Dreesen, who had five catches for 73 yards to lead the team. SOURCE: Houston Chronicle

Steeler QB Ben Roethlisberger, Texans LB Brian Cushing and Jets WR Santonio Holmes are all eligible to return this week after serving four game suspensions. Big Ben won’t return until week 6 as the Steelers have their bye week in week 5. All 3 of these guys are safe starts going forward with Cushing obviously being a starter in IDP leagues.

Evening Player News 9/22

Ryan Matthews Looks like he has a High Ankle Sprain as confirmed by him. This is usually a multiple week injury. I am guessing he’s going to be out at least 2 weeks. Mike Tolbert gets a nice boost and even when Matthews comes back Tolbert will split goaline carries per Norv Turner.

Vincent Jackson

No Deal went down on Wednesday so Jackson is out until week 7 and who knows he may not play at all this year. I would still hold on to him if you have the room and wait and see what happens in the next coming weeks. GM of the chargers AJ Smith must really want to keep Jackson otherwise why wouldn’t he deal him when he had some reasonable offers on the table. The Vikings supposedly made a last ditch effort but failed. Sounds Like Jackson wants to be on the field so will see what happens. Like I said don’t cut bait as of right now.

Percy Harvin

He missed practice Wed and it appears the migraines have returned. Also he is battling a hip bruise. Doesn’t look good at all for Percy this week. Monitor his status but it’s pretty safe to assume he’s going to be out this week. Will see

Benard Berrian

He’s also banged up with a knee injury. He practiced in limited fashion today. Who is Brett Favre going to throw to this week if Berrian and Harvin are out? Camarillo and Hank Baskett? LOL. Looks Like Vikes should of went all out for Vincent Jackson

James Davis

Browns RB James Davis believes he may be in store for an increased role in the team’s Week 3 game plan. Davis is the 3rd string back behind Hilis and Harrison. Harrison is banged up this week and was limited in practice so maybe Davis gets a shot. Still they are playing Baltimore this week and it’s not a good week to showcase his talents. Davis could be a factor in a couple of weeks just not this week.

Joseph Addai

Joseph Addai missed Colts practice Wednesday with a knee injury. If Donald Brown is out there in your league go grab em. He already is going to see a bigger role even with Addai in there. Without Addai he will be a solid #2 RB. Monitor Addai’s status but remember he had knee surgery in the offseason.

Maurice Jones-Drew

Was limited in practice today with an Ankle. He should be fine but this may be one of the reasons other than the Jags getting blown out that Drew was out of the game so early Sunday.

Rest of the Important News

Michael Bush looks like he may make his way back finally this week but monitor his status. Malcolm Floyd missed practice today but should be Ok For Sunday. Andre Johnson guarantees he will be on the field Sunday. Bruce Gradkowski will start this week for Oakland.  Michael Turner should be fine to return this weekend. Dez Byrant missed practice Wed so monitor his status.
