12/20 Player News

Adrian Peterson is surprisingly inactive tonight because of knee/ankle injuries. This is a big blow for owners who had thought he would play.Vikings QB Brett Favre (shoulder) has been upgraded to questionable for tonight’s game against the Bears. This puts a bit of a damper on owners who were hoping to use rookie Joe Webb at wide receiver in some leagues. Favre will throw before the game to see if he can go. We will keep you updated on this news. UPDATE: Brett Favre will start tonight for the Vikings against the Bears. Joe Webb will be the back up.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles had to be helped off the field yesterday but the good news is that it was only leg cramps, nothing more. So he’ll suit up next week against the Titans.

Fantasy’s number one player, Arian Foster missed most of the 4th quarter Sunday due to a muscle spasm in his glute aka his butt cheek. This will be interesting to follow going into most league’s finals. We’ll keep you up to date as we receive info.

Broncos QB Tim Tebow was fairly impressive in his first start yesterday, and obviously impressed his coaches and teammates enough to earn the starting gig the last two weeks of the season. RB Knowshon Moreno left Sunday’s loss to the Raiders early on with rib injury. The severity of the injury is not yet known and we’ll update you as more information becomes available.

Colts receiver Austin Collie (concussion) has likely played his final play of the 2010 season after suffering his third concussion in the last seven weeks. Before exiting Sunday’s game he did post up the second most fantasy points at receiver in standard scoring leagues. Hopefully his recovery goes well and he’ll have a big 2011 season.

Lions QB Drew Stanton suffered a Grade 3 separation of his non-throwing shoulder during Sunday’s win in Tampa. It may require surgery but since its his non throwing shoulder he may be able to play through it especially with Shaun Hill (finger) status going forward still up in the air.

Steelers TE Heath Miller who sat out Sunday’s loss to the Jets with a concussion is expected to return to the starting lineup Thursday night against the Panthers. Miller hasn’t been consistent enough to be counted on as more than a TE2 thus far in 2010.

Cardinals receiver Early Doucet left Sunday’s game against the Panthers with an injured hip and is expected to have an MRI later today or tomorrow. At this point in the season, Doucet can’t be counted on and shouldn’t be rostered in re-draft leagues.

Bengals WR Terrell Owens is undergoing season ending surgery today to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He is out for the season but vows he will be back for the 2011 season.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (concussion) status for Sunday’s game against the Giants won’t be updated until at least Wednesday. 3rd year QB Matt Flynn played pretty well last night in a hostile environment against the leagues best team until the end where his lack of experience took over. This week is a big game for both teams as their fighting for their playoff lives.

11/23 Player Updates

Colts Receiver Austin Collie(concussion) has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Chargers as a “precaution”. Blair White will fill the slot receiver role and is a solid flex play especially in PPR leagues. Teammate Joseph Addai(neck) will be participating only in non contact work this week during practice. Many believed he’d be able to return during week 12, but this news leads us to believe week 13 is more likely. Donald Brown, who looked much better this past week, would draw another start if Addai is inactive.

Chargers activated Vincent Jackson from the roster exempt list and he is expected to play a significant role in the offense Sunday in Indy. RB Ryan Mathews(ankle) is unlikely to play as well, meaning another start for Mike Tolbert against the leagues 30th ranked run defense. Malcom Floyd(hamstring) tweaked his hammy Monday night and is likely to be a game time decision Sunday. With the game being Sunday night, if you have other options i’d use them instead of holding out hope of Floyd playing. TE Antonio Gates(foot) is still unsure if he’ll be able to come back week 12. Gates is such a tough competitor, I can’t rule his return out completely in a big game like this, but we’ll have to take a wait and see approach. As with Floyd, if you have another  option use him with the game being late.

Chargers wideout Patrick Crayton, had a decent game Monday night until he dislocated his wrist. Crayton finished with 3 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown but is now likely to be sidelined at least two weeks. If Crayton and Floyd can’t go, look for Vincent Jackson and Seyi Arijotutu to get the start in a good matchup in Indy.

Giants WR Hakeem Nicks is going to be out at least three weeks with compartment syndrome in his lower right leg. With fellow wideout Steve Smith already on the shelf for at least another week, look for Mario Manningham and Derek Hagan to start Sunday. The Giants also signed former Bucs wideout Michael Clayton from the UFL today. Clayton showed some flashes while in Tampa but never put it together consistently, maybe some time away from the NFL helped him develop and hopefully be able to help the Giants depleted receiving corp.

Dolphins wideout Brandon Marshall, who suffered a hamstring injury during last Thursday’s home loss to the Bears, says he will “do everything in my power to play Sunday.” Marshall has never missed a game because of injury and hopefully that streak continues, but hamstrings are very tough to recover from without the proper amount of rest, so stay tuned.

Browns QB Colt McCoy is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain during Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars. If he is unable to go this week, look for Seneca Wallace to return as the Browns starter. TE Ben Watson, was in and out of the lineup Sunday after suffering an ankle injury and was held without a catch. There currently is no updates on this matter and as soon as we have one, we will be sure to pass it along to you.

Lions RB Jahvid Best(turf toe) is having more and more issues with it and was outproduced by Maurice Morris during Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys. Best is not likely to suit up Thursday against the Patriots and with Kevin Smith placed on IR, Maurice Morris would get the start and is a decent flex play in PPR leagues.

Saints RB Reggie Bush(leg) is likely to go Thursday against the Cowboys while Pierre Thomas(ankle) was held out of Tuesdays practice and Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Time-Picayune assumes there has been a setback in Thomas’ recovery. A Thursday afternoon return is even more unlikely return date for Thomas if he’s unable to practice at all just two days prior. We will continue to monitor this but don’t give up on Thomas just yet has he could be a juggernaut for you during your fantasy playoffs.

Redskins RB Clinton Portis(groin) who started Sunday’s game against the Titans, reaggravated it and was unable to return, leaving Keiland Williams to shoulder the load. Portis, in my estimation is done this year and Ryan Torain(hamstring) is more than likely to be ruled out this week as well, leaving Williams to carry the load once again, against the Vikings.

49ers TE Vernon Davis left Sunday’s home loss to the Bucs after aggravating the same ankle he sprained a few weeks back. Davis states that its not that serious but we’ll keep an eye on this going into Monday nights game with the division rival Cardinals.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart(concussion) was unable to practice Tuesday and his week 12 status is uncertain. Stewart has missed the last two weeks with this concussion and Mike Goodson has filled in admirably. Stewart still has a ton of talent, but in re-draft leagues it is almost time to cut bait completely.

Titans WR Kenny Britt(hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 12 already. Britt more than likely won’t return until at least Week 14, if he’s lucky. With the Titans loss of Vince Young however, Britt is looking a little less attractive even if he does return if rookie Rusty Smith is under center.

Cardinals receiver Early Doucet has been diagnosed with a concussion after leaving Sunday’s game in the 2nd quarter. Doucet will be monitored throughout the week but I wouldn’t count on him suiting up Monday night against the 49ers.

Seahawks receiver Mike Williams, after posting a 6-109 day Sunday left the game in the third quarter after feeling something pop in his foot. He was unable to return to the game and his status for going forward is dependent upon his response to treatment according to coach Pete Carroll. Week 12 at the very least seems to be a wash as far as Williams is concerned so make other plans.

Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker has now been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, which kept him out of Sunday’s win against the Browns. Sims-Walker is unlikely to play this Sunday against the Giants too, so make other arrangements if he’s in your current lineup.

Week 11 Waiver Adds

By Mike Cannici

QB’s

Matt Cassel- Cassel has now strung together 5 straight weeks where he has scored at least 13 fantasy points, including his 38 pt effort this past Sunday against the Broncos. They were down by a ton in the first half, which forced him to air it out, but he definitely has some fantasy value and is not a bad option to have on your bench.
Troy Smith- The former Raven QB now looks to have found a home in San Fran. Smith was given the opportunity to start back in week 8 against the Broncos and has now led the Niners to two straight victories. Smith tallied 356 passing yards and threw a TD pass. More than anything with Smith is his ability to keep plays alive with his legs and contrary to popular belief, he has not knocked down any value to Gore, V. Davis or Crabtree while he’s been under center. He’s a great buy in 2 QB leagues and not a terrible back up option especially with the Bucs, Cardinals, Packers and Seahawks on tap the next four weeks.

Others to Consider: Jon Kitna, Tyler Thigpen

RB’s

Fred Jackson- Jackson is a player who should already be owned following the trade of Marshawn Lynch, but in some shallower league’s he’s a great pick up this week with the injury to rookie CJ Spiller who will be out indefinitely. Jackson lit up the Lions defense(which is much improved) for 170 total yards and two touchdowns. He is now “the guy” in Buffalo and can provide low end RB2 value in PPR leagues and flex starter value in standard leagues. Go out and grab him ASAP if he is still available.
Keiland Williams- Williams was a hot waiver add the past two weeks after Ryan Torain suffered an injury, however during preparation for this week’s game against the Eagles, all signs pointed towards Torain starting, therefore many fantasy owners who grabbed Williams, didn’t end up using him. Torain was a last minute scratch from the starting lineup, but was active. Williams drew the start and didn’t show a great burst of speed, he did pass block very well and got open in the flat and led the team with 4 catches for 50 yards and a score. He also ran the ball 16 times for 89 yards and two scores, including a late 32 yard scamper in which he put on a few moves and used a little bit of his speed to get into the end zone. He’s a guy that if you picked up last week, keep stashed and if he’s available you want to get, especially with Torain and Portis injury history, which could provide some big time value going forward, especially in PPR leagues.
Jerome Harrison- Harrison will likely not be used like he was Monday night except for big time blow outs, but last night we saw the promise he showed us at the end of last year in Cleveland. He is no doubt, McCoy’s backup and would have some good value if McCoy were to go down. He’s a good speculative add especially for McCoy owners and the way he ran last night he could produce solid RB2 numbers going forward. He’s someone to definitely keep an eye on at the very least, and someone to grab in 14 team or deeper leagues immediately.
Bernard Scott- Scott may have some increased value going forward with Cedric Benson being quite ineffective averaging less than 4 yards per carry. Benson also seemed to have injured his ankle during Sunday’s game and we’ll find out more as the week progresses. Scott makes for a great speculative add though for all 12 team and deeper leagues just in case Benson is to miss time especially with the Bills worst run defense on deck for week 11.

Other to Consider: Mewelde Moore, Kevin Smith

WR’s
Early Doucet- Doucet is a guy I touted back in preseason as a breakout candidate but got hurt during week one, then preceded to miss the next four games five weeks with an injury. He came back in week 7 and didn’t post up great numbers either but finally got it going during week 10 matchup with the Seahawks, totaling 71 yards on six catches and a score. Derek Anderson isn’t the greatest or most accurate QB in the league but he can fling the ball and Doucet can be a big beneficiary of that. He’s my top receiver add this week and has WR3 upside going forward.
Mario Manningham- He was widely owned early in the season but then put up a few goose eggs followed by a few good games in a row after that. He has been somewhat inconsistent, but with Steve Smith out until early December with a torn pectoral muscle, Manningham steps into the starting lineup and has some big time upside. He posted a 10 catch 90 yard, 1 touchdown performance Sunday against Dallas and should be the major beneficiary to Hakeem Nicks double coverage. He’s likely owned in more leagues than Doucet is therefore my reasoning for Doucet being my number one target, but if M.M. is available in your league he’s my number one target.
Brian Hartline- Hartline is starting to heat up with three straight double digit fantasy weeks and with Tyler Thigpen becoming the starter, that should mean the Dolphin Offense will be much more receiver friendly. He’s had at least three catches in every game and at least 50 yards receiving in 5 out of his 8 games he’s played. With Thigpen under center, I believe there will be plenty of balls to go around to Marshall, Hartline and Bess. Hartline has some solid upside and is worth a look in all 14 team leagues and another solid week like last week he’s worth a look in shallower leagues as well.
Jason Avant- The Eagles are a pass happy offense, especially with Vick under center and that makes Avant, their number three receiver, a viable fantasy asset. Avant caught five passes for 76 yards and a score Monday night and now has at least 40 yards and 5 targets in his last four games. He’s a great pickup at the very least for depth, as well as a decent starts with specific matchups. He’s a solid WR5 with WR3/4 upside if Jackson or Maclin were to get injured.

Others to Consider: Deon Butler, Brandon Gibson, Emmanuel Sanders, Arrelious Benn

TE’s
Rob Gronkowski/Jermaine Gresham/Anthony Fasano-There were some big games amongst TE’s Sunday, most notably Patriots rookie Rob Gronkowski. He had 5 catches for 72 yards and a Pats rookie record three touchdowns in Sunday night’s win over the Steelers. The issue with him is that weekly, its either him or fellow rookie Aaron Hernandez having the big game, not both. This makes Gronkowski a risky play, but if you’re in need of a TE grab him and just play him the week following a big Hernandez game. Fellow Bengal’s rookie Jermaine Gresham had his best game as a pro against the Colts Sunday, finishing with 9 catches for 85 yards and a score. The Bengals theme lately has been come from behind, and is likely to continue going forward and with secondary’s attention being focused mostly on Batman and Robin duo, Gresham could start getting more looks as the weeks go forward. He’s going to be a top 6-7 TE in the league at some point so if you’re in a keeper or dynasty league you better get on the bus now for this kid. Dolphins Anthony Fasano had his biggest game of the season Sunday hauling in five passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. His value, along with the rest of the Dolphins receivers, greatly increases with Tyler Thigpen under center and Fasano is not a bad addition to your team, especially if you’re still stuck looking for a replacement like me for Jermichael Finley and guys like Dallas Clark. He’s worth a gamble, I’m going to test him out in one of my leagues this week and you might as well too.

Others to Consider: Delanie Walker, Bo Scaife

Halloween Eve 10/30 Player News

Carolina RB DeAngelo Williams(foot) did not travel to St. Louis therefore he will not play. Jonathan Stewart gets his first start and in his three career starts is averaging 150.3 total yards. Solid RB2 with RB1 upside.  SOURCE: Darin Gantt on Twitter

Viking QB Brett Favre(foot) is  expected to start Sunday in New England.

Colts RB Joseph Addai(shoulder) is as expected not going to play Monday night against the Texans. Donald Brown practiced in full Saturday and will likely start with Mike Hart getting some carries as well.

Texans TE Owen Daniels(knee) was a full participant in Saturday’s practice and will start Monday in Indianapolis.

Cardinals WR’s Steve Breaston(knee) and Early Doucet(groin) are both expected to return to this week’s lineup against the Bucs. Both are decent flex plays, but i’d probably hold off on playing either of them this week. Their return however should free up Larry Fitzgerald to have a solid game.

Titans QB Vince Young(knee) is expected to start Sunday afternoon in San Diego. SOURCE: Adam Schefter on Twitter

Antonio Gates(toe) is going to start as we had expected against the Titans and is an obvious must start. Receivers Legedu Naanee(hamstring) and Malcom Floyd(hamstring) are out for this game. Buster Davis(ribs) and Patrick Crayton will start with Davis being worthy of a flex play and Crayton a rock solid # 3.

10/27 Player News

Broncos receiver Eddie Royal(groin) sat out practice today. He’s probably best left on benches again this week until he is fully healthy.

Raiders receiver Louis Murphy(lung) will be out a couple of weeks. He has a chest contusion near his lung according to coach Tom Cable.

Colts receiver Anthony Gonzalez(ankle) will be in the lineup Monday night against the Texans and is a good pick up with Dallas Clark and Austin Collie out.

Antonio Gates(toe) was held out of practice Wednesday and is unlikely to practice much if at all until his toe is healed. Based on last week, i’d say its safe to say Gates will start Sunday. Legedu Naanee(hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday and if he can avoid a set back he should play Sunday. Receivers Patrick Crayton and Buster Davis may have already passed him up on the depth chart, but Naanee is a good blocker and Rivers loves to pass. He is still better left on the waiver wire, at least for now.

Cardinals WR’s Early Doucet(groin) and Steve Breaston(knee) were both limited in practice Wednesday and their statuses for Sunday are still in question. QB Max Hall(concussion) is fully participating in practice this week and is expected to start Sunday against the Seahawks.

Titans QB Vince Young(ankle, knee) is getting better according to coach Jeff Fisher but will not yet commit on him starting against the Chargers where Young is winless (0-4) in his career although Young did practice in full Wednesday.

Sidney Rice(hip) ran half speed and caught some passes Wednesday but isn’t likely to return until Week 9 at least but this is a good sign. Rice’s recovery is headed in the right direction. SOURCE: Jeremy Fowler on Twitter

DeAngelo Williams (ankle) missed practice Wednesday but he is not yet ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Rams. If Williams couldn’t go, Jonathan Stewart owners(like me) would be ecstatic as he would get his first start against a lower echelon defense in the Rams. Stay tuned for updates in DWILL as the week goes on. SOURCE: Darin Gantt on Twitter

Lions QB Matthew Stafford(shoulder) is taking all first team reps thus far in practice and is expected to make his first start since week 1 this week.

Saints RB Reggie Bush(leg) was unable to practice again Wednesday and according to Jason La Canfora on Twitter, is very doubtful to play Sunday night. Pierre Thomas (ankle) also was absent from practice Wednesday and looks like he’ll miss another week. Chris Ivory and Ladell Betts will share touches against the Steelers if these two cannot go.

49ers News

WR Josh Morgan(thigh) was a full participant in Friday’s practice and is expected to play Sunday in Carolina. CB Nate Clements(ankle) is likely to miss Sunday’s game which could mean a big day for Steve Smith who himself is returning from an ankle injury. TE Vernon Davis(knee) practiced with no issues this week and will start Sunday.

Bears News

LB Lance Briggs(ankle) was able to practice Friday and is expected to start Sunday. IDP leaguers get him back into your lineups against the Redskins.

Bills News

No Major injuries effecting your fantasy squad.

Broncos News

CB Champ Bailey(ribs) has the best chance at playing this week over the rest of the Broncos on the injury report. WR Eddie Royal(groin) participated in a limited fashion during Friday’s practice and will be a game time decision. If you have another option, use him over Royal who even if he does play won’t be 100%.

Browns News

RB Peyton Hillis(quadricep) is probable this week and should play in a pretty good matchup against the Saints. WR/KR Josh Cribbs (concussion) is expected to play Sunday. WR Mohammed Massaquoi(concussion) is listed as doubtful and likely won’t suit up against the Saints. Rookie QB Colt McCoy will get the start once again this week while QB’s Jake Delhomme(ankle) and Seneca Wallace (ankle) sit out.

Buccaneers News

RB Earnest Graham (hamstring) is questionable this week and isn’t likely to play Sunday. Cadillac Williams and LaGarette Blount are expected to shoulder the load in a good matchup against the Rams. TE Kellen Winslow(knee) practiced in full late this week and will play Sunday.

Cardinals News

WR’s Steve Breaston(knee) and Early Doucet (groin) are both being considered game time decisions. If you have other options or cannot wait until the 4pm game to make a roster decision, look elsewhere. Rookie WR Stephen Williams (back) is not likely to play Sunday and could miss some more time as he is dealing with a small fracture in his back.

Chargers News

WR’s Malcom Floyd and Legedu Naanee(hamstring) are both unlikely to play Sunday in what would be great matchup against the Patriots. TE Antonio Gates(toe) will be a game time decision, but many close to the Chargers believe Gates will play. RB Ryan Mathews (ankle) practiced in full Friday and will start. Mathews is a high end RB2 against the weak Pats defense.

Chiefs News

No significant Fantasy news.

Colts News

The Colts are on a bye this week, however they are just riddled with injuries. TE Dallas Clark(hand/wrist) was placed on IR ending his season. WR Austin Collie(foot) had surgery this week and will be sidelined at least two weeks. RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) is seeking a second opinion on his shoulder but sources say he will probably miss the next 4-5 weeks. There is nothing torn just some nerve damage. Donald Brown(hamstring ) would be first in line to start with Addai out but he just can’t seem to get healed up. Mike Hart would get the starting nod in Week 8 if Brown is unable to go.

Cowboys News

Dez Bryant (ribs/ankle) is fully healthy according to sources and will play Monday night against the Giants.

Dolphins News

No significant Fantasy News

Eagles News

Michael Vick(ribs) will not start Sunday but will dress and will be emergency QB. Vick is expected to return to a starting role in week 9 after next weeks bye. RB LeSean McCoy(broken rib) says his rib is not yet fully healed but has been playing through it and will continue to do so. WR Desean Jackson(concussion) will not play Sunday but will likely return week 9 after next weeks bye, as long as he passes all his tests.

Falcons News

CB Dunta Robinson(concussion) will not play Sunday. Robinson suffered to concussion on a devastating hit on Eagle receiver Desean Jackson who will not play this week either.

NY Giants News

WR Hakeem Nicks(hamstring fatigue) will play Monday against the Cowboys. Nicks said its just some fatigue and will be fine.

NY Jets News

The Jets are on a bye this week and have no significant injuries.

Jaguars News

QB David Garrard(concussion) will not play Sunday. Coach Jack Del Rio will not announce a starter until Sunday. It will be between Trent Edwards and Todd Bouman, neither of which is a viable option.

Lions News

The Lions are on a bye this week. QB Matthew Stafford(shoulder) is expected to return and start week 8. LB Zach Follett(stinger) was released from the hospital and thankfully will be ok. He layed motionless on the field during Sunday’s loss to the Giants after getting hit by DE Jason Pierre-Paul. It looked a lot worse and luckily he was not severely injured.

Packers News

WR Donald Driver(quadricep) returned to limited practice Friday and is listed as probable. Driver is very likely to play so keep him in your lineups. LB Clay Matthews(hamstring) is going to play Sunday but more than likely will only play on passing downs. If you don’t have other options, you have to start him, but if possible, bench him for this week as his total snaps will be limited.

Panthers News

WR Steve Smith(ankle) practiced in full and will start Sunday in a good matchup against the 49ers. Smith also gets Matt Moore back at QB and is a solid WR3 with WR2 upside this week.

Patriots News

RB Fred Taylor(turf toe) will be out once again this week. BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead will split the carries and both are decent flex plays this week, especially Woodhead in PPR leagues. WR Julian Edelman(concussion) was limited at practice Friday and will be a game time decision.

Raiders News

QB Jason Campbell(knee) is likely to start Sunday unless he has a setback. He was able to practice on a limited basis the last few days so he should be good to go. This brings some value back to the Raiders receivers, who would have had little to none with Kyle Boller at the helm. Bruce Gradkowski(shoulder) is still unable to go. RB Darren McFadden is listed as questionable still but Coach Tom Cable believes he will play Sunday against the Broncos. Run DMC will likely split carries with Michael Bush and both are good flex plays.

Rams News

No significant fantasy news

Ravens News

TE Todd Heap, who suffered a shoulder injury after a big hit by Patriots Safety Brandon Meriweather, is expected to play Sunday against the Bills.

Redskins News

TE Chris Cooley, who suffered a concussion Sunday night is expected to play in Chicago Sunday. Check back in tomorrow with us to make sure but he looks like a go. RB Ryan Torain(ankle) is fine and will start in a tough matchup against the Bears.

Seahawks News

No significant fantasy news

Steelers News

Texans News

LB DeMeco Ryans(achilles) was placed on IR thus ending his 2010 season. LB Zac Diles is expected to fill in at MLB and could be a sleeper for tackles in IDP leagues.

Titans News

RB Chris Johnson(thigh) practiced in full Friday, and as we expected is going to start Sunday. QB Vince Young(knee/ankle) is not expected to play Sunday, meaning Kerry Collins will start. WR Kenny Britt(bar fight) is a game time decision as to whether or not coach Jeff Fischer will sit him for disciplinary reasons. Check back in tomorrow morning for an update. TE Bo Scaife(groin) is listed as questionable but expects to play Sunday against the Eagles.

Vikings News

WR Percy Harvin(hamstring) was limited in practice Friday but is expected to play Sunday against the rival Packers. He’s a solid WR3 this week.

Colts TE Dallas Clark is out indefinitely after suffering hand/wrist injuries during Sunday’s win against the Redskins. The Colts are not optimistic and it is a possibility that Clark will miss the rest of the season. SOURCE: Adam Schefter on Twitter

Joseph Addai will go for a 2nd opinion on his shoulder injury that could keep him out several weeks. Addai resting during the bye. SOURCE:@JasonLaCanfora

Raiders RB Darren McFadden(hamstring) split reps today with Michael Bush during practice. If McFadden can go close to full speed Thursday, he will play Sunday against the Broncos. He’s a great flex play along with Bush if he can play. SOURCE: Vittorio Tafur on Twitter

Panthers WR Steve Smith seems to be having another miraculous recovery from an ankle injury suffered back in Week 3. Smith practiced in full Wednesday and is expected to start Sunday against the 49ers. I don’t know what voodoo doctor he visits but I need their number. Smith is a solid WR2 if he starts even with Clausen under center.

Titans RB Chris Johnson (thigh) was limited in practice Wednesday but isn’t expected to miss Sunday’s game. Its likely just some rest for Johnson who has just been getting a huge workload thus far. We will obviously monitor this situation but I highly doubt he will miss any time. QB Vince Young (ankle, knee) was also held out of practice Wednesday and his week 7 status is still up in the air. Back QB Kerry Collins (thumb) was held out of practice today as well but it is not believed to be serious.

49ers TE Vernon Davis(knee), practiced in full Wednesday and is close to 100%. He will start Sunday against the Panthers and is a must start. SOURCE: Matt Maiocco on Twitter

Eagles Desean Jackson has not yet passed his concussion tests thus far and will likely not play Sunday. The Eagles have also officially named Kevin Kolb the starter for Sunday’s game against the Titans. SOURCE: Jeffrey McLane on Twitter

Browns Coach Eric Mangini said Wednesday, unless Seneca Wallace(ankle) and Jake Delhomme (ankle) make significant progress the next few days, rookie Colt McCoy will make his second straight start against the Saints. McCoy played well against the Steelers Sunday and could have a similiar if not better game against the suspect Saints Defense.

Titans WR Justin Gage (hamstring) returned to a full practice Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday against the Eagles. The Gage injury opened the door for Kenny Britt to start and I can’t imagine with the way Britt has played, Coach Fischer would take snaps away from Britt for Gage. Britt is undoubtedly the most talented receiver on the team, so expect Gage, not Britt’s role to be reduced going forward.

Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday and the extent of this injury is still a mystery. We’ll keep an eye on this closely as the week goes on. SOURCE: Mark Long on Twitter

Cardinals WR Early Doucet (groin) returned to practice Wednesday in limited fashion. His status for this week is still up in the air. WR Steve Breaston (knee) after practicing in full Tuesday, was limited today but I believe it was only precautionary and he should start Sunday.

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (ankle) was held out of practice Wednesday but isn’t expected to miss any time, just some rest. SOURCE: Kevin Acee on Twitter

Chargers TE Antonio Gates (toe) was held out of Wednesday’s practice but is still being considered day-to-day by coach Norv Turner. He’s got a chance to play Sunday especially if he can practice either tomorrow or Friday. SOURCE: Kevin Acee on Twitter

Ravens Ray Rice was limited during Wednesday’s practice but he isn’t injured, it was just a day off so he’s good to go Sunday in a great matchup against the Bills. WR Derrick Mason (finger, ankle) was limited Wednesday but is expected to be fine and is a pretty good flex play against the Bills this week. SOURCE: Jamison Hensley on Twitter

Browns RB Peyton Hillis (quad) was limited in practice Wednesday but the fact that he did practice after being held out the last few Wednesday’s is a good sign. He’ll start Sunday against the 14th ranked run defense in the Saints.

Redskins TE Chris Cooley (concussion) participated in light drills today and has a chance to play this week. The Skins’ will be cautious with him but if he continues to have no ill effects he should start.

Dez Bryant (ribs, ankle) has been a full participant in practice this week unlike last week when he didn’t practice at all. He should be good to go Monday night against their division rivals the NY Giants. He’s a risky WR3 however since he hasn’t been very consistent during his young career.

9/16 Player Updates

by Mike Cannici

Hey guys good morning, hope all is well. Our show last night was another big improvement over last weeks and our goal is to get better and better as time goes on. We had a few callers last night and have gotten some positive feedback which is greatly appreciated. Now on to the player news.

The big news of the day is Fox Sports John Czarnecki reported last night on a radio station that the Minnesota Vikings are prepared to offer a “high” draft pick in exchange for Vincent Jackson. The big factor in this situation is whether or not the league arbitrator will allow Jackson to avoid the roster exempt list. This would allow him to play in week 4 and be well worth a high draft choice for Jackson’s services with Sidney Rice out for a good chunk of the season. If someone didn’t take a chance on him in your draft, head out and grab him immediately, he should be owned in all leagues on upside alone. If Brett Favre were to get his hands on him, I can see at minimum, a repeat of last season’s numbers from Jackson even after 3 game suspension. The arbitrator is expected to rule on this sometime this afternoon, and a trade could be imminent shortly thereafter.

Browns QB Jake Delhomme has sat out practice for the second straight day with an ankle injury. My spin on this is I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t Seneca Wallace under center this Sunday against Kansas City. As I said in yesterday’s update, Delhomme shouldn’t be owned in 12 team leagues at the moment, but if you’re in a deep league or 2 QB league look for another option this week.

A report was leaked yesterday that the Packers were interested in trading for Bills RB Marshawn Lynch which would be a big hit to this weeks Waiver darling Brandon Jackson. According to NFL Networks’ Jason LaCanfora, the Bills are telling teams Lynch is not available. It looks like the Bills are holding onto Lynch as insurance for rookie CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson, especially since they have Lynch under contract at around $1 million for the next few seasons so there is no urgency to move him without maximum compensation. Lynch finished opening day with just 3 carries for 13 yards but keep an eye on the wire for him just on chance he gets moved to a backfield deprived team.

Raiders RB Michael Bush practiced fully Wednesday and is expected to play this week. However, we know last Wednesday he practiced fully as well and was still not on the active on game day so Bush’s status remains to be seen. They are playing the Rams this week so Bush could be in for a big day if active, as obviously McFadden’s value and touches will be cut at least in half.

Cardinals RB Beanie Wells was limited in practice Wednesday but Coach Whisenhunt is hopeful he practices fully on Friday. He is a risky play in week two regardless of him being active or not, especially against the stout Falcon defense.

In other Cardinals news, WR Early Doucet, who left last weeks game with what was thought as a groin injury, it is now feared that he has a sports hernia according to coach Whiz and may need surgery. That would keep him out for an extended period of time and they may even place him on IR to save the roster spot. You can drop him in all leagues right now except dynasty leagues.

Bronco receiver Eddie Royal, who had 8 catches for 98 yards last week, missed practice Wednesday. He was seen with his thigh heavily wrapped during Wednesday’s practice and is being considered some type of quad injury. His week 2 status is unknown, so check back later in the week for updates.  SOURCE:Lindsay Jones on Twitter

Eagles backup QB Mike Vick will start this Sunday against Detroit, with Kevin Kolb out with concussion like symptoms. Vick is a must start this week against the weak Lion defense. Vick is the ultimate dual threat, who can run for 100yards and throw for 200 yards with a few scores. He’s in for a big week, so get him into your lineups.

In IDP news, Packer LB AJ Hawk, has thus far been limited to special teams duties.  Hawk, who has averaged 74 tackles and 2 sacks each of his first 4 years, isn’t too happy about this arrangement and has now told the Green Bay Post Gazette that he open to being traded. AJ shouldn’t be owned in leagues right now, but if put into the right situation, he could have value as a low-end LB3 or high-end LB4. Monitor this situation closely in deep IDP leagues.

Player Updates 9/15

Eagles QB Kevin Kolb will not practice until Friday at the earliest. Mike Vick is a must add in all formats especially against the Lions this week as he will receive all first time snaps until Friday at minimum. Kolb suffered a concussion last weekend against the Packers and most likely won’t play in Week 2. Get out there and grab Vick if your a Kolb owner or as a matchup play.

Giants TE Kevin Boss has been ruled out for Sundays game against the Colts. 2nd year TE Travis Beckum is expected to start and could have a decent game. Neither one is ownable at the moment except in 2 TE formats, but keep an eye on Beckum as he could be a viable option at some point if Boss missed extended time.

Mike Mulligan of the Chicago Sun Times believes that RB Chester Taylor, not Matt Forte should be on the field during goal line plays. Forte is still not much of a threat in the run game as he has yet to average 4.0 yards per carry in his short career. Taylor is a bigger, stronger back who may vulture a few scores going forward. Taylor has only had 1 real shot at a full-time gig in his career and is a must handcuff for Forte owners.

Cardinals #3WR Early Doucet, who left Sundays game with a groin injury, will be reevaluated later this week. I don’t recommend using him this week as a starter, but wouldn’t cut bait on him either just yet.  He does have an injury history, but is very talented and should be back shortly and could be a viable flex play in the coming weeks.

There are conflicting reports on the Matthew Stafford injury. Some have said it’s a shoulder separation and he would miss 6-8 weeks, and during an interview with a Detroit Radio station Dr. Stan Sczecienski said there might be evidence that Matt Stafford’s shoulder injury may just be a bad bruise and not a separation, which could only sideline him about 2 weeks.  This is still and unsettled subject that needs to be watched closely. Don’t cut bait on Stafford just yet especially if he’s your backup at the moment. Wait this out until there is an official diagnosis.

Hopefully Jake Delhomme is not on your roster but if so make sure he is not in your lineup this week as he will be a game time decision after suffering an ankle injury against the Buccaneers. He is currently in a walking boot and will not practice until Friday at the earliest. Seneca Wallace will start if Jake can’t go.

Panthers QB Matt Moore, who was putrid at best against the G-Men last weekend is expected to practice and start in this weeks home opener against the Bucs according to NFL Networks Steve Wyche. Moore suffered a concussion late in the game Sunday, but was not very effective before that point either. He shouldn’t be on your roster anytime soon until he shows some positive signs.

We’ll have more updates as they become available. Have a great day, while I go and attempt to find an employer to support my Fantasy Money League addictions.
