Week 13 4pm Active/Inactives

Colts Austin Collie(concussion) will sit today and Blair White will step in for him again. Mike Hart(ankle) will be back today and will likely split carries with Donald Brown. WR Reggie Wayne(knee) will play as expected.

Chargers TE Antonio Gates(foot) and Malcom Floyd(hamstring) are both active today at home vs. the Raiders. Neither guy could finish last weeks’ game so i’m not terribly confident in them but Gates especially is just too talented to sit if you didn’t start a TE who played at 1pm.

Mike Tolbert will start over Ryan Mathews but both will be active. Mathews is a risky play this week but Tolbert has RB2 upside especially since he’s the most likely to get goal line carries.

Seattle wideout Mike Williams(foot) will be active today against the Panthers. This is a big help for Hasselback as he gets his big receiver back, but definitely brings down Ben Obomanu’s value.

Panthers CB Chris Gamble(hamstring) will sit out today in Seattle. Mike Williams and the rest of the Seattle receivers get a slight boost in value with Gamble out of their.

12/3 Player News

Texans WR Andre Johnson tweaked his ankle during Thursday’s loss to the Eagles but an MRI reavealed no serious damage. He’ll be fine going into Week 14 with a 10 day lay off.

Titans QB Kerry Collins(calf) was limited in practice Friday but hopes are that he’ll be able to go Sunday against the weak Jaguars secondary. He would be a big upgrade for Nate Washington and Randy Moss over Rusty Smith. Kenny Britt(hamstring) is eyeing a week 14 return. Britt was able to do some light drills this week but needs one more week to be back in game shape.

Seahawks WR Mike Williams(f00t) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game but says he expects to play. This would be a big hit to Ben Obomanu’s production but Williams very easily could reaggravate this injury and leave the game early, so i’d keep Obomanu in lineups as the Panthers will be keyed on Williams if he’s in the game.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson(ankle) practiced Friday and is being considered probable for Sunday’s dream matchup with the Bills. I’d expect Toby Gerhart to steal some carries especially if the game gets out of hand early. Percy Harvin(migraines) was limited in practice Friday and is going to be a game time decision.

Antonio Gates(foot), Mike Tolbert(hand) and Ryan Mathews(ankle) are participated in Friday’s practice and are on track to play Sunday. Tolbert and Mathews are expected to split carries with Tolbert the more likely one to take goal line carries.

Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker(ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup with the Titans. Upgrade TE Marcedes Lewis as he is the only other viable threat besides Mike Thomas for David Garrard to throw too.

The Browns have confirmed Jake Delhomme will start at QB Sunday in Miami.

Jets Safety Jim Leonhard left Friday’s practice on a cart after breaking his tibia. He will now miss the remainder of the season. This is a big blow to the Jets secondary and return game. Eric Smith and Brodney Pool are expected to rotate in at safety while Antonio Cromartie will take over as the punt returner.

Falcons WR Roddy White(knee) as expected practiced in full Friday and is good to go Sunday against the Bucs.

Raiders TE Zach Miller(foot) said he expects to play in San Diego Sunday in a decent matchup as the Chargers pass defense has been great but they have allowed at least 13 fantasy points to TE’s in 5 of the last 6 weeks.

Colts RB Mike Hart(ankle) was unable to practice Friday but is still expected to play Sunday against the Cowboys. Donald Brown will get the start once again as Joseph Addai(neck/shoulder) seems to be a week away from returning to the starting lineup.

Saints RB Pierre Thomas(ankle) was limited in practice Friday but Coach Payton says there is still a “realistic chance” he will play against the Bengals. Even if Thomas does play he’ll have to fight for touches with Chris Ivory, Reggie Bush and dare I say Julius Jones who has actually showed signs of life since becoming a Saint. I wouldn’t recommend starting Thomas if he does play until his role and health are better known.

Bills RB C.J. Spiller(hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday and will play Sunday in Minnesota. Fred Jackson will still get the majority of touches as Spiller will likely be worked back into the mix slowly.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger(foot) will play Sunday in Baltimore in a big division game. Big Ben was unable to get through a full practice all week but the Steelers will implement more shotgun plays in order to help him make it through the whole game. There is no question if Big Ben can walk, he will play in a game that could very likely decide the division.

Week 13 Waiver Adds

By Mike Cannici

QB’s

Sam Bradford- Bradford became the first rookie QB in NFL history to throw for 300 + yards, 3 touchdowns and no turnovers in a win. He has been so impressive during his rookie campaign and has this Rams team in a tie for first place in the NFC West. This division and very winnable and with Bradford under center, I’m not so sure they won’t win it. If he is available in your league and you have shaky quarterback play right now you need to grab him ASAP.

Matt Cassel- Cassel’s stats are now up to 2,307 passing yards, and a 22-4 TD to interception ratio which is just mind boggling. It obviously helps to have Dwayne Bowe at your disposal but Cassel has been very impressive in his second year in Kansas City. Over the last three weeks, only Michael Vick has accumulated more fantasy points at quarterback, and if it wasn’t for that unreal game against the Redskins, Cassel would likely be the highest scoring QB over that time span. He should be owned in all leagues at this point.

RB’s

Brian Westbrook- Westbrook should be the #1 waiver add in all league’s this week with Frank Gore going down for the rest of the season with a hip injury. Westbrook ran all over a terrible Cardinals defense Monday night running for 136 yards and a touchdown. He was a non factor in the passing game but figures to improve on that going forward. The best part about Westbrook taking over now is that he is fresh as he only had 5 carries on the season coming into this game. The 49ers go to Green Bay this week and home for Seattle in week 14 so it’s shaping up for a few good matchups out of him going into your playoff runs. Rookie Anthony Dixon is also worth a look as he contributed Monday with 54 yards and a touchdown himself. He will be Westbrook’s backup but with his injury history who knows if he can take on a full load week in and week out anymore.

Toby Gerhart- Adrian Peterson’s MRI Monday revealed only a sprain to his right ankle but it is cause for some concern. Gerhart ran for 76 yards and a touchdown in relief of AP and is a must pick up at this point especially for Peterson owners. AP will probably try and give it a go this weekend, but if he can’t Gerhart has a dream matchup against the Bills who just allowed the Steelers Rashard Mendenhall to rush for 151 yards.

Jonathan Stewart- If Stewart was dropped in your leagues, you need to go out and grab him immediately because even though Mike Goodson has been better than imagined, it looks like J. Stew will regain the starting job this week after finishing with 98 yards on just 12 carries. The Panthers get the Seahawks, Falcons and Cardinals coming up and if he can run the way he did last week against a pretty good Browns run defense I think he can do the same with more carries against these teams. He MUST be owned in all leagues at this point.

Ricky Williams- Williams had arguably his best game of the season Sunday in Oakland including a big 45 yard touchdown run to seal the deal for the Dolphins. They have a very favorable schedule going forward and Williams could be a big benefactor of that. Williams needs to be owned in all 12 team or deeper leagues and is worth a look in shallower leagues as well that use flex positions.

Maurice Morris- Morris was discussed in last week’s waiver adds so I won’t go too much in depth but he looked really good against the Patriots Thursday totaling 75 yards and two scores. Jahvid Best’s turf toe could sideline him again this week so Morris is a must own at this point.

WR’s

Ben Obomanu- Seahawks “big ben” had a big game Sunday against the Chiefs including an 87 yard touchdown catch. Obomanu finished with 5 catches for 159 yards and a touchdown and figures to be the #1 guy as long as Mike Wiliams is out and maybe beyond that as he seems to be developing a good chemistry with QB Matt Hasselback. Obomanu is a must own in all 12 team and deeper leagues and worth a add in shallower leagues as well if you’re hurting at receiver or just want some depth for the playoffs.

Davone Bess- Bess a few weeks ago was almost an afterthought in fantasy until Brandon Marshall’s injury and Bess stepped up big Sunday in Oakland grabbing six balls for 111 yards. It’s the first time since week 7 he finished with more than 55 yards. He’s a must add in PPR league’s as long as Marshall is out and a borderline add in 12 team standard leagues.

Danario Alexander- The rookie returned Sunday in Denver after knee surgery and picked up where he left off back in week 6 when he hauled in 4 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Danario caught 4 passes for 95 yards and was stopped just short of the goal line or he would have had his second touchdown catch of the season. Bradford seems to really like this rookie out of his former conference the Big 12(Missouri) and if he can just stay healthy(which is a big IF) can come up big for your team going into the playoffs.

Jacoby Ford- This kid just can’t seem to be stopped anymore. Ford returned a kickoff for 102 yards and then made a few more unbelievable catches to finish with four catches for 108 yards on 10 targets. He’s a hit or miss type of guy at this point but his big play potential is enough to be worthy of rostering at this point. He’s totaled over 100 yards in two of his last three games and in 14 team leagues is a must own at this point. Shallower league’s there’s likely someone more consistent available, but I wouldn’t hate you if you took a flier on him as his play should continue to keep him on the field.

TE’s

Todd Heap- All Todd Heap did Sunday was haul in the longest play from scrimmage all year for the Ravens, a 65 yard touchdown catch just before half time to give them a 10-3 lead going into the locker room. Heap’s inconsistency over the years has always been attributed to his health, but this season he has been able to stay healthy and is producing. Heap finished with just 2 catches but had 79 yards and a touchdown which is solid production out of your tight end. Those in need a TE help take a look at this guy right now.

Other TE’s to look at, Kevin Boss(3-74-1), Tony Moeaki(1-6-1), Brent Celek(3-50-1) in Week 12 and are all worth a look especially Boss who should continue to get looks with Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith out again.

Week 12 Waiver Adds

By Mike Cannici

QB

Jon Kitna- Kitna has now put together two straight solid starts, totaling 7 touchdowns including one rushing. He seemed to just need a few games to adjust after not playing in two years and has now found a groove, plus the new team “attitude” with Wade Phillips gone. He’s a solid backup add and must add in 2QB leagues.

Sam Bradford- Bradford has been pretty solid throughout most of the year, averaging a little less than 16 points per week. He has a favorable schedule the rest of the way with the Saints being his only tough matchup going forward. The rest of the pass defenses he faces are all ranked outside the top 15 in the league. The next few weeks are all on the road but two of them are very favorable at Denver and at Arizona. If you’re in need jump on board, especially in deeper leagues and keeper leagues. This kid is going to be a good one.

RB

Mike Goodson- Goodson has compiled two straight hundred yard efforts in games where the Panthers were getting trampled. With DeAngelo Williams done for the year and the ineffectiveness and now concussion suffered by Jonathan Stewart, this could be Goodson’s job the rest of the way. He’s a must add in all formats at this point.

Keiland Williams- This is a guy from preseason I said by midseason would be the Redskins starter the rest of the way. Goshdarnit, now he is. Portis reaggravated his groin tear during his return Sunday and Ryan Torain who knows when he’ll be back at this point. If Williams is still somehow available in your league, he must be a top priority, especially in PPR leagues.

Maurice Morris- With Kevin Smith placed on IR and Jahvid Best still hurting from his turf toe, Morris is likely to handle the bulk of carries Sunday against the Patriots. Morris had 10 carries in Sunday’s loss vs. the Cowboys along with four receptions. The Patriots are a decent matchup for him especially at home in the dome so if you need some help in your backfield, grab this guy as he does have some talent.

WR

Vincent Jackson- I hope for your sake, your league mates have still left him on the waiver wire, as VJax will return this week for San Diego. I’d expect him to make an immediate impact as he has been practicing with the team and should be very well rested. The way that Rivers flings the ball through the air, Jackson could immediately become a legit WR1.

Sidney Rice- Rice returned to the lineup last week and hauled in three passes for 56 yards. He’s being worked back in slowly, and with the firing of Brad Childress, the reemergence of the Vikings offense might have the same effect as the Cowboys offense did after they fired their coach. Rice probably isn’t available if you’re in any type of competitive league, but if he is grab him ASAP.

Blair White- With Austin Collie potentially missing this week’s game, White is a solid pick up after finishing with 5 catches for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Peyton Manning loves his slot receivers and that’s exactly where White fits in. If you’re starving at receiver, especially in PPR leagues, White is your man.

Brandon Gibson- The Rams receiver was targeted and caught 5 of them for 42 yards and a touchdown. Gibson has had at least 5 catches and 40 yards in three straight and seems to be Bradford’s second option just after Amendola. Gibson is a solid add especially in PPR formats.

Ben Obomanu- With the foot injury suffered by Mike Williams now potentially being serious, Obomanu seems to be the new number one target for Hasselback. Sunday, Obomanu finished with 5 catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. Obomanu stepped into the starting lineup for the first time last week and definitely didn’t disappoint. He’s a must add in all 12 team or deeper leagues, and worth a look in shallower leagues.

Derek Hagan- Hagan was a cast away after training camp for the Giants, but after the Steve Smith injury, was brought back in last week. He caught three balls for just 10 yards, but did get into the end zone Sunday against the Eagles. The guy knows the offense like the back of his hand, and with Hakeem Nicks expected to miss the next 3 weeks, Hagan will be forced to step into the starting lineup. The Giants like to pass the ball and Hagan is a better red zone threat than Mario Manningham. In deep leagues he’s definitely worth a look on an offense that is 7th in the league in passing yards.

TE

Joel Dreessen- He’s a guy I’ve liked for a while now, and with Owen Daniels status week to week being totally up in the air, Dreessen is a worthy pick up. Dreessen picked up four catches for 104 yards and a touchdown during Sunday’s loss to the Jets. He hasn’t been a complete model of consistency, but with all the injuries to tight ends this year, he’s not a bad replacement, if the Marcedes Lewis’s and Todd Heaps of the world are rostered.

Jimmy Graham- Graham is a big rookie tight end out of The U. of Miami(6’6 260lbs) who has struggled to get playing time as his blocking abilities having quite caught up to his receiving abilities. He got his chance Sunday with Jeremy Shockey out with a rib injury. Although his size might fool you, he is very quick and has great hands and he showed it Sunday with 5 catches for 72 yards and a touchdown. He’s the future at tight end for the Saints, and the future might just start now. If you’re in deep or keeper league’s he’s a very solid prospect with tons of upside. Watching some highlights of him from Sunday, he reminds me a bit of a young Antonio Gates.
